This is super sweet. You know it's funny how many people are saying that Bitwig is no big deal: Modulating plugins? Hybrid tracks? Bouncing Audio in place? Sandboxed VST's? Proper multicore/multiprocessor support? Per/note automation? Etc etc etc. this is a REAL music producer's dream and I will be counting the days to wave Ableton's awful PDC goodbye!!

Hmmm, Sandboxed Vst's that's interesting. I always think one day I'm gonna forget to disable internet and boom blacklisted. :(

Yeah it looks awesome! I can't wait to try it.

Apparently there's no sidechaining yet.. I'm sure we'll be able to work around that though, with all the modulation options Bitwig has.

The drag and drop modulation system looks ideal for a mouse and keyboard, it's like the DAW is one big instrument.

My main complaint is that this is going to be a long 2 months!

I think you understood that wrong. Maybe Im wrong, but from what I remember Bitwig dont run VSTs directly in your DAW, so when a plugin crashes ONLY the plugin crashes, and not the whole project.
You're thinking about a different sandbox, to protect you from malware or whatever, not really into that topic.

Anyway, I dont see how closing your Internet while using cracked plugins will help...? First plugins normally dont connect to the internet, I mean why should they? Second you have cracked plugins, you really think the people who cracked it would be so stupid to let the plugin connect to the internet?
Or am I missing somehting and I understood you completly wrong?

Dude we are talking about bitwig

Plugs phone home - now shhh

Bitwig -probably buggy as fok. Cool features. Learning new shit distracts from making music. Proper pdc.

What's the copy protection on it?

(Rumours of dedicated controller called "The Wiggle")

Bitwig is gonna let a lot of you down. LOL. It hasn't even come out yet and it's the be-all-end-all for a lot of you. Don't set yourself up. Let it come out first, then come and spew the hate of other DAWs, if you will.

I found out that one does NOT control Cubase, Cubase controls YOU.

    Your post proves it.

No, seriously, i take the bait, and without starting a "what is best" jam, for me Cubase follows an outdated navigation and accessibility scheme. I guess I'm going into my 10th year of working with it and I still find myself being unable to really get going with it creatively in an intuitive fashion.
It just sits there like a tank, waiting to print inputs, not inviting you to really mess with it, unable to allow serendipity or the lucky accidents of mad genius experiments.

So treating it like liquid? Like clay? No way! Reshaping signal flows deeply, ease of use via system wide drag n drop, no way. Sound design? CMon :( Dunno if that has gotten better with 7.5 though. Everything requires multiple clicks to get anywhere.
So yeah it works well, great midi features, but it's an antique pain in the ass. It's all about taking control these days, and Cubase is just to stubborn to allow so. On the contrary, you have to adapt to its approach, and that makes it so Y2K-ish. And that's why it may fail in the long run.
The userbase is simply too old and too conservative to accept profound major changes, shitstorm guaranteed. So compared to its dominance currently, it may lose market share slowly but constantly, which may take many years though.
The future will be multi-centric, multi-faceted, spherical and plastic. Just like society is, and continues to become.

I myself love the Ableton approach, it's all in the Gui, it screams "RAPE ME". But there are so many things Ableton sucks at, that's why i'm so excited to reach out for Bitwig and replace my Ableton / Studio One switching combo.
We will see how well implemented the midi editing is, but looking at the motivated enthusiasm of its creators, I'm really confident and optimistic.

In the end, the same old phrase still applies. Use, or be used by what works best for you. hehe... :mates:

Hey, of course. No doubt about it.

On the other hand: I'm pretty sure the whole Presonus staff assigned to work on Studio One agrees with me. If my opinion was insular, there would never have been the impulse to create S1, since it has been built by former Steinberg employees who most likely were fucking tired of the lack of an intuitive workflow within Cubendo.

And they did a fantastic job by coding the modern Program Cubendo was supposed to become, but was not allowed to, for whatever stupid business decision behind it.

Pretty much a failure decision-wise. Which its users would have problems admitting, 550€ is quite some money in the end, plus all the years to internalise its unfriendly and eccentric behaviour.

By looking at his baby, i can tell you exactly what kind of an asshole Charlie Steinberg must be. It's like a mirror ... *yes*

Ah well, anyway, back to Bitwig! :)

    It looks amazing.

I probably wait a couple of weeks for demo test and reviews.

Hopefully the demo has most of the features.

I have the feeling that the protection won't be as though as pro tools/reason/cubase. We might see a release soon too but I'm actually willing to buy it cause 399 seems like a good price for all the package withouth having "suite" or "hd" extra cost.

    I think audio + midi
    Pitch stuff
Vst running as a standalone and 32 bit compatibility (anti crash fix)
    Up to 3 windows use.

Those are some of the reason I'm already sold. Hopefully it won't be a letdown.

Only downside is that it took them that long to release and it gets me worry that fix/patches will take to long. Hopefully they increase their staff.
