Digging the STL stuff currently. They sit in the mix pretty well without doing much.I like a bunch of others too. Most of the JST Toneforges,X50,TH-U,Lepou Legion, some Vadim Tiranov stuff.Sometimes double tracked mixes of the ones mentioned. They all do pretty well depending what I'm aiming for.I like Guitar Rig or Amplitube sometimes for cleaner or mild overdriven stuff also

Has the OP never heard of the Kemper?

Yes its a hardware solution but I see other hardware in you list too. The Kemper has the most authentic amp tone aside from the real thing.

I am actually really blown away by the samples which I hear from Ugritone's Trve Cab (the same guys behind Kvlt Drums etc.). This is the first time that I get the feeling I hear an amp in a room, and before that I was extremely dissatisfied with all the IRs that I heard or tested.

  8. Why isn't this poll named "which is the amp sim you use the most?" because honestly who has done a strictly controlled comparison of all of them?

    I use Guitar Rig.

I love that it gives you full control over the signal path through the split mix component. I can morph between whole effects chains and even chains within chains, using a MIDI CC foot controller.

You have to really dig into the advanced controls to get a good sound, but I've always been able to get the sound I'm looking for eventually.

You have to make your own presets though, All of the factory pre's I've tried suck.

I'm sorry but I don't touch anything that is not neural dsp. Maybe there's some better outside but I'm happy with Plini, Gojira and Fortin Cali. Pure sweetness.

Ok man... your ears are clean and they work well ... i think that people that don't are agree with us have to go (fastly) to a good otolaryngology: Neural DSP is at the top ... the question is who is at second place... ;-)

I have been mainly using Plini , The Nameless and Abasi from Neural DSP aswell.
Plini for clean sound , The nameless for heavy metal modern rhythm and the Abasi for guitar leads.
Before I had an Axe Fx II but after hearing the Neural DSP stuff with the option to alter the sound much easier I instantly sold it.

I also checked out some STL stuff and gotta admit that im impressed too.

I used to have an Axe Fx II before and I think the main problem with those things is mainly that you can't live edit the sound.
But the tone is good for sure

shit lol... i forgot to even specify what it was in my original post. so it does look alot like the axe fx fm3 but it's a quad cortex by neural dsp. they're crazy powerful and can metal pretty damn hard ha. they are pretty new though and have had a very hard time fulfilling orders since they launched early last year. i was one of the first to order one outside of those who had preordered and still waited almost 5 months for mine..

    I know it's a quad cortex haha
Just saying this because as far as I know most hardware can't change tones in the DAW while listening to the tone during mixing.
This makes a huge difference for me because I can adjust the tone straight in the mix.
With hardware you have to reamp which can be quite annoying.

I sticked to Axe FX II until the Neural DSP stuff came out.
Before I felt like most VST's aren't good enough for a decent metal tone.
By now I even feel like Neural DSP is even better lol

    Have you tried the cortex?
Because it should be basicly the Neural DSP VST's plugins but maybe it sounds different
At the end only the result matters and you get amazing tones with both products.
