It's probably because the first time you launched it you had an external hard drive on and then you shut it off or something. Basically something changed since the first time you launched when you booted up. Usually this won't happen after a reboot.

I wrote @ another forum about it long ago. One of really odd moments with Cubase, and it would take some time to explain all the details. Glad I dumped Cubase (once again) long ago... Anyway, I guess you have a desktop machine, and I don't know if they still have a floppy thing these days :), but when I was resolving this issue, the only thing that worked for me AND for some other people too was - disabling floppy in BIOS. After disabling it, error may, or may not appear only once, and is gone after rebooting. This time for good. Yes, really strange, indeed. I'll skip all the wisdom I came across while resolving Hypersonic 2 + Cubase 5 crash. Good Luck.

Why would you have to re-install your plugs......deinstallation, doesn't delete the VST folder nor plugs within it!

This often happens when I open Cubase and I rebooted my computer, but things like this happen again

how to disabling floppy in BIOS *yes*

i love cubase i don't like sonar.. if i have any money i'll buy this but.. i'll wait for cubase 7

but the pop-up appears again after I reinstall Cubase 5

whether Cubase 5 will work fine when I choose one of the options that pop-ups :(

and then I was really confused by this third update .. I had to install all three or I just have to install one of them. :(

Cubase is king and one I'm having a bitch of time replacing now that I can't use 5 on Windows 8 x64. Most of these other DAWs are a joke in comparison.

Yeah my bad but if x86 didn't work I can't imagine x64 will.
