The last time I needed to ensure data on HDDs was securly deleted was some years ago. 6 serevrs with 4 HDDs each and two 8 bay 19'' NAS needed to be taken out of service.
Because of the low price for used HDD it didn't make sense to delete the data according to standards so I just took the HDDs out of the servers and destroyed each one with a sledgehammer and in a second step cooked them in a coal fire @ 900°C.

That was the hardware solution.
It cost me an hour, some sweat and a beer -

Ok,so i went to do chkdsk C:/F
i get
cannot lock the current drive

chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process,would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?

What goin on there?

 

You must also finish reading this - you then only need to press the Y (Yes) key.
"Simply confirm with Y (on your keyboard)."
Then restart the PC, then Windows starts to check your drive.

ok when i restarted the pc went back to not starting,repairing errors and then i went into different startup option,i chose start in safe mode with command,and i was going to try chkdsk in safemode
when i chose that option it then started the fixing process like it should have done when i restarted previously
i will let you know how this goes

 

ok,so it was at about 95percent,i popped out for a min came back in and pc was restarting
should it have done that?
amd what do ye know during restart went into blue screen and then back to the automatic repair and i know that wont work as it has done it loads
so,the only way i will get pc to start is if i chose the option 7 disable driver signature,i choose it and pc starts up

Yes it restarts by itself, that's O.K, what blue screen - what was on it?
Do you have a video card installed? I understood correctly that is a PC?
What is everything connected to the PC? So which devices?

STOP CODE Critical service failed,
Is what the blue screen said
it then goes to automatic repair,cant repair
as i said i then chose option 7 from troubleshoot advanced options, disable driver signature, and it starts
pc yes,yes have video card

If you could write down the STOP code we can go further.
I would remove the graphics card and start without the graphics card.

if i type it into search it comes up with open tab(no open as admin option)
i click open and i get

Most motherboards have a graphics chip.
Windows then starts without the graphics card and Windows then simply takes the graphics card chip.
Look at the back of the PC - on the mainboard - there should be a blue standard VGA on it!
Which motherboard do you have? Exact designation please?

status came back ok for both hard drives

Looks like your hard drives are O.K. Now we want to test if it is due to the graphics card.

You have a graphics chip on your mainboard. (see picture)

1.) Connect your monitor to the blue VGA connector on the mainboard.

2.) Remove your graphics card. Start your PC and report if your PC boots normally.

3.) If you get a warning message, please write it down completely and post it here.

do u mean actually take it out of unit or just disable it via device manager?
i am able to access device manager now,after changing a value in registry from 1 to zero

 

i have dual monitor setup,and earlier in the year one of the monitors had strange colours.
when i moved twiddled with the cable it would be ok,but ended up twidling the cable did not work
i thought i needed new cable,so bought one,but made no difference.
i was advised to put one monitor into integrated graphics and one in graphics card
thats how i currently operate.

 

Yes I mean remove the graphics card - that is, pull it directly from the motherboard /PCI.
Before that, disconnect the cables and carefully put it away.

Then connect the monitor via VGA cable.

Then start the PC and if the error message is gone and it starts normally, the error is caused by the graphics card or driver.
Then we have isolated the error.

If you then have error messages - write them down completely - otherwise we will never find the error.
