I tried the VST2 & VST3 version of the AMEK EQ 250 in Studio One and Reaper, Win7 and Win10, and didn't hear any differences in the TMT channels... and then *finally thought to drag it into PluginDoctor, which confirmed that there's no difference between the channels. Just thought I'd see if this feature was missing for everyone else, or if it's somehow an issue on my end.

It’s really something you feel more then hear.

I don't have the new AMEK plugin, but generally speaking the difference between the modeled potentiometers really only becomes prominent when you start dialing the knobs relatively drastically. If you're just comparing two zuul'd channels, you're not going to really hear a difference. If the problem occurs on plugin instances with the settings adjusted, then yeah I'd check with customer support.

I guess I should have mentioned that I'm not new to the game. :shalom:
So, yes, I had twiddled some knobs and torqued some dials. It's not a matter of whether or not it's working/present, I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this, or if it was an issue that only I was having. Thanks for the reply tho.

The effect only kicks in after your song enters the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Well, that's disappointing news. One can't help but think that a caveat of that magnitude was left out of the manual intentionally. :(

Found three other people who've mentioned this issue now in various forums, so at least I know it's not just me. Even though it's only been out 36hrs, I'd have thought there'd be more people with this issue, if it is a bug. :dunno:

I have many PA plugins, but lately they are recycling and creating alternative versions of a previous plugin, instead of updating them, such as the bx_masterdesk. the same shit with true peak, why no just add the true peak update, and let the customers decide if they really need that, is a cool company tho, but lately they are thirsty for money. in the end we will end up with 6 versions of the same plugin he he and I have the amek 200. I will not buy the 250.

Thanks, but I tried VST2 and VST3, and I don't use AAX. It's doubly frustrating because I keep getting these elitist, gatekeeper asshats talking about how "... I'm doing it wrong," and I have to "... understand it's not going to drastically change the music." This shit's not rocket science.

And speaking of rocket science, I've noticed this rising anti-PA sentiment as of late, not unlike the rising popularity of being anti-Elon Musk. The commonality lies in the fact that both of them have made themselves easy targets by unabashedly being at the top of the heap, meanwhile, you're getting took by other people who're playing it quiet. Seriously, ask me how many people I know who have a pile of worthless Soundspot plugins, all unused, but purchased because they were $5, or they were on a 10-for$10 deal. I could easily argue that a shysty hustle like that–which a hundred companies are acting on, in kind–is dirtier than anything PA does. People are essentially drawn to who they perceive to have the least offensive hustle going on nowadays, whether they recognize that that's what they're choosing or not, but it's all slimy, because it's all capitalism at the end of the day.

If its you at GS I already read about, i dont need a clone so i will even not test it, as a 200 owner, this new pretty clone is not useful at all.

    Yeah, because f*uck PA.

But credit where it's due, the 250 is pretty good.

I have the 200 too and use it regularly but no, while agree with the masterdesk thing, the 250 is not a clone or update, it just looks and operates the same way, the sound is pretty different.

Speaking of not useful, I believe your comment here falls into that category, especially since, by the sound of it, you didn't even bother to A/B the two. They're similar, as the original hardware is similar, but they're far from the same. Incidentally, I don't haunt GS as it's largely a bunch of gatekeepers and people with an inclination to gripe about nuances and trivialities.

Appreciate that heads up on that.

See, I can get behind this. I have no ill-will towards PA, as they've always been helpful and on point with me, but the fact you dislike them *yet can still make an intelligent assessment and even a concession* about the new AMEK 250 is more than most.

If you have the 200 version rather spend your money on Tomo Audio Labs Lisa instead.

Yes man, I know what you mean about GS but i thrust some guys (I'm over 20 years here and the "bug" was already posted..for such reason i was think it was you..).
Anyway maybe I'm wrong but I don't want to A/B test because: I know the original hardware and how much they are close, I don't have time now, i already spent my money on Tomo Audio Labs Lisa instead, to me as 200 owner makes no sense, i have already my workflow on some audio material that is quite ok with the 200... For such reason to me is a clone..pretty same eq curve with a clipping function...no thnx. Money are saved for the next studio bill!

I do own the 200, and it's a go-to of mine, which is why I like the 250 because—and I can't stress this enough—they're similar... but not the same. Also, in case you weren't aware, LISA is a dynamic EQ, the 250 is not.

Understandable. The 200 quickly became a go-to of mine, whereas I was honestly expecting it to be another solid option for buss shaping, it became another option for my master channel, which I was not expecting as a master EQ isn't really something you hot-swap out every other week, least no one I've known. Since I work with a lot of low-end, I like to have options, and as much as the 250 definitely has some different top-end vybe than the 200, I noticed the biggest difference in how it handles the lows; again, always nice to have options, and for $30, I'll make the leap. I also have to point out that everyone I've seen has mentioned that PA fucked up on the emulation, and that the 250 is louder than the 200 in hopes of fooling people into buying it because it sounds "better," but you're the first person I've seen take of the clipping, hence the boost. Well-played on spotting that. Incidentally, LISA is a amazing. I was skeptical at first, of how useful I'd find it, as I'm a huge fan of Tokyo Dawn's NOVA GE, and I'm a fan of the "If it ain't broke..." mentality, but LISA is a whole different beast, just something utterly unique. I fell in love with just pushing and pulling the audio with that thing.

The point i was making is that if you already have the 200 then getting something like Lisa is a wiser decision, it just opens broader possibilities and for someone trying to save every $ that info could be important.
    Just my 2 cents.

Stating it like that makes more sense, though still would be a moot point to many, as I've met many people who swear that dynamic EQ is entirely unnecessary. Saving cash is a big deal though, as I'm notoriously broke, but as I mentioned to 8bits, for $30 I may as well take the leap, since I like what it does for my audio... which is why this TMT bug–at least, personal bug–is so irritating.

This is all that matters if you like it and works for you.
