The Windows System Information app will export a report as an XML file. When you double click on this file, Windows will use whatever app is associated with .nfo files. I suspect in your case that will be Notepad or something similar, which is why you see what you see when you open it.

There is nothing wrong with the file itself, the issue is you're trying to view it with an inappropriate app. If you want to view the file using the System Information app (which will be more appropriate) then you have a few choices:

    1. Right click on the file > select Open With > choose System Information
    2. Open the System Information app > File > Open > choose the file

You can also change the Windows association for .nfo files such that when you click on a .nfo, Windows will open it with the System Information app. The problem with this is that most information files associated with releases on the sister site will contain an .nfo file (containing instructions). Clicking on such a file will launch the System Information app - which won't be helpful at all!

    No worries.

The other thing you could do is export the same information to a txt file. Open the System Information app and then File > Export > choose a name for the saved file.

This will create a .txt file containing your PC's system information. I'd like to think Steinberg tech support will be able to view this without any issues
