Good composers respect the art of poetry too much to indulge in it.
And never in history there was "a lot of great artists".
    And today less than ever.

Yes, but we can't say that a composer doesn't compose lyrics. At present we know perfectly well that many authors sing, compose and write their lyrics

You see? you remain in your concept. And that's fine, but it's not the truth.
This is very similar to saying "this is music" and "this is not music" or "this is art" and "this is not art"
I can see a person on the street taking noise out of a jar and saying "this is art" while you pass by and say "that's noise".
    It's very conceptual.

so if you say "Serious composers" it's just perception of what a Serious composers is

    Verarbeitet means reworked.
From the examples I gave it's clear what I meant by 'serious'.
And Mozart was known for joking at times in his works (he even has written a whole piece named "The Musical Joke"). His letters to his sister are mostly made of jokes. And using those letters was a joke too.
What someone occasionally does for fun or out of an obligation is obviously not important. Including building the stages.
'Geopolitcal' criticism is quite out of place, and it's by nature just a pile of guesswork.
So, all in all, too literal, in every respect. Looks like a platform for bickering, mostly.

The criteria is simple - what a serious composer does, someone who is not serious could never do in his life. (For instance write an opera like "Don Giovanni").

If we use the definition of "serious" or "serious composer" it doesn't exist or doesn't make sense. What is serious? 1. [person] That is little given to being cheerful. "He is a very serious and formal man" two. [person] Not smiling or looking upset or worried. "She is very serious because she has had a fight with her boyfriend" Now you are taking that word and turning it into a concept. This is called word-concept and it is one when a person, a group of people or a society takes a concept from that word, but it is just that, a concept, their own or that of a group of people. It is what often happens with the word culture "that person does not have culture" (many people usually say) well this is a mistake, everyone has culture, there is no person who does not have culture. So it is still a concept of your own, a way of seeing, of appreciating, of feeling, but not a real truth.

Not exactly, that would be "überarbeitet". "verarbeitet" means rather he worked the texts into his Kanons.

Of course sentences which proclaim so decidedly an alleged truth and also still emphasize this textually are taken literally.
So if you didn't mean it all that way - and have now also given examples of Mozart's writing texts yourself...
    Well ...q.e.d.

Looks almost like a claim that I invented that word myself.
Compose, write lyrics and sing is even less serious.

It's more about the usage to me. The whole is a composition, per se, though...

Yes, they do, as you just wrote, "write their lyrics,", not compose them. The lyric and music are delineated by different tasks involved in the creation of a song, opera or the like. I personally sing, compose the music to my songs and write the lyrics. I wouldn't say that I compose them. It would in my mind be awkward to say that a novelist composed a book, rather that the author wrote the book. Elton John composed the music, Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics, together their compositions were magical.

    Songwriters or lyricists write lyrics.

It's about quality. Anybody can write lyrics, but is it art and poetry? The same goes for composing.

Absolutely any 8 year old could write a lyric but it wouldn't probably be very good but by definition though it would be art nonetheless even though it wouldn't be good art (human creativity through imagination need not move the observer in any particular way, it may even repulse).

If you were referring to my work, I believe it is art...my poetry, lyrics, music, pottery and short prose.:winker:

    George and Ira Gershwin
    Rogers and Hammerstein
    Elton John / Bernie Taupin...

There are many through history who teamed up with one doing music and the other lyrics.
There are exceptions like Cole Porter and Billy Joel who liked to write their own lyrics as well.
    also ...e.g..Lennon / McCartney
