Last year (2021) or this year (2022)? I'm confused.

Last years best new plug-in IMO was Fircomp 2.

This year I'm not sure, yet. Volcano 3, Sonnox Claro or Sonible Smart:Limit could be some of the best new, but I can't remember what other releases there has been.

Klevgrand’s Borsta is a percussionplugin with a difference in that it’s completely focused on stroke and brush sounds.

To this end, it features an audio engine that supports continuous changes in intensity, the theory being that this will enable you to create realistic brushing phrases that would be impossible to produce with a standard sample-based instrument.

You’re given parallel envelope and events sequencers that enable you to determine when to start a stroke, how its pressure/speed should evolve over time and when it should end. You also get multisampled one-shots with choking capabilities.

18 instruments are supplied, each of which is said to be based on more than 400 samples. It's available now in VST/AU/AAX and iOS formats.

Find out more at Klevgrand(opens in new tab).

Minor nitpick, Vital was released November/December 2020, though the latest version available to all is 1.0.7 from February 2021.

For me it's gotta be Korg wavestate native.

I tried the HW once for just a few minutes and was sold... were it not for lack of money and space. So I always wanted one and now I can!

Then again I love me some Korg synths, especially the Wavestation so it might not be for everybody.

IMHO, Kilohearts phaseplant v2.x. It's just so easy to get around in.

I’m really enjoying Fuse Audio Labs VCS-1. I prefer it over SSL Native Channel Strip 2.

Edit: Just realized this was released November 2021.

What do you mean about "Decapitator II"? I own every SoundToys plugin and there's no version 2 :dunno:

This is starting to shape up like new/better versions of things we already have. "new to me" I had a few to add, but I am looking and they are not 2022 either.
