I just read this whole thread as I prepare to dive in, I guess just about every question was already asked and answered, good job gentlemen especially BEAT16.

I have about 50 old Cubase projects that I haven't touched in over 10 years, it should be fun and nostalgic, eventually evolving into saddness and depression reflecting how the years passed and seeing how creative I used to be as opposed to the lazy disgusting sloth I am today with regards to music.

Installed cubase followed famousluts post on how to install certificate and followed beat16 post on the order of install and it worked perfect. Played around for a few minutes and got rid of it all by restoring a previous windows image. It's fun to test but I don't have the brain power right now to learn cubase again, studio one is doing everything I need for now but its nice to know it works, maybe I'll just use Groove agent and expansions and padshop2.

 

New maintenance update is out for both Cubase and Nuendo ... Looks promising

June 8, 2022 – The Cubase 12.0.30 maintenance update is now available. The update introduces some improvements to the performance, stability, and other areas of the application.

Performance and stability issues
The 12.0.30 update addresses a couple of performance issues. These issues could occur when closing the application. We have also improved the performance when working with Vienna Pro Ensemble.

We will continue to investigate performance issues on specific systems and provide additional improvements in future updates. We still rely on your reports, so please get in touch with us in the Steinberg Forum if you are still experiencing issues after this update.

Plug-in blank space issues
When opening and working with plug-ins, blank spaces could appear to the left/right side of the plug-in panel. We addressed this issue in this maintenance update.

We have improved the following features and functionality:
Editing
Editing time-stretched clips in Musical Mode now works as expected.

Moving Chord Events with the Range Selection tool now works as expected.

Switching from the Time Warp tool to other tools no longer changes the format of the timeline unexpectedly.

Recalling Project Logical Editor presets now works as expected.

The selection tool in the Sizing Applies Time Stretch mode works as expected when changing the algorithm in the preferences.

Adding warp markers to multiple selected events with the Free Warp tool now works as expected.

Miscellaneous
The Track Controls Settings window now works as expected.

Importing AAF files no longer causes error messages on Macs which run on Apple silicon.

When exporting selected tracks that contain audio clips with the ARA extension, error messages no longer appear.

The new (legit .030) Nuendo / Cubase doesn't seem to work w/ the silk emu, unless you've made the emulator the default silk .dll (see r2r.txt.)

So, if you plan to mix and match; use (eg) legit C12 and try before buy N12 (or vice versa) you'll have to wait for the r2r patched release. If that's the case, just stay on the working "trial" version, don't update it to C12.030 / N12.030. Obviously, the legit version can be updated as you like.

 

And me waiting R2R to release 12.0.30

It seems Steinberg won't let it go and will continue this cat-and-mouse game with R2R.
Many people may stick with the latest (or one of the further latest) R2R version for many years again, just like back in time with the v5.
And yet it will be a win for St. because there will be a recent (64-bit, with VST3) cracked version available indirectly/unintentionally for testing, learning, getting used to that can eventually generate more purchases.

Now, these updates seem to be not just for this game but to fix bugs and at this point it becomes crucial which subversion will be the last working R2R crack.

 

Just a small advice for people like you or others who own a legit Steinberg license and want to mix legit and R2R versions. Well, if you already own a legit license, so far, there is no advantage to use it and mix with R2R releases because functionality is just the same and you have a lot of more possibilities. That makes no sense to me until R2R SILK EMU stop working.

What I want to say is, that is really nice and fair that you have supported developer and bought the software, and it is good and advice for everyone to do, ofc, who can afford and who make money with, but if you have bought eg. Cubase or Nuendo, there is no need to use it legit, because again, makes no sense if you want to use them along with R2R EMU.

Do not cause yourself potential troubles if there is no need for that.
Go completely legit and stay away from cracked software or go completely R2R because you have done your ethical obligation and bought the license and in case when you need some kind of proof for using legit software in your productions, you already have a license so you are on safe side...

Don't cause yourself troubles, unless you are on mac and you don't have other options except to use a bought software...
Team VR is not recommended for mac in no way, but that is whole another story.

Using R2R if you have legit license will no hurt anyone, nor yourself or Steinberg.
Makes sense now?

That are just my thoughts about whole thing, because it is smartest way to do things.

BTW, both Cubase and Nuendo .0.30 updates, work with latest R2R SILK EMU fast and smooth, even better than legit one, regarding speed and closing app.
Just log of from damn account in SAM delete it from system, and do @notrace trick and keep using R2R emulator!
I am doing that since the very begining... No trouble at all
I kept that trick for myself because I was afraid Steinberg will found out about that and patch that flaw, but since now is revealed, well there is a new solution for all

And I am glad that Steinberg has begun to do regular maintenance updates, and fix things often, because that will help them to get more customers I hope.

Thanks Steinberg for good software and GREAT R2R for helping all other people to have this exclusive stuff in our disposal.

Yeah @Hennessey, you (well, I! =) should prolly go all in on the R2R versions, it's the easiest way. Zero problems.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up, in case they have legit installs side-by-side? (Hopefully I'm not confusing anyone!) I mean, the silk emu works fine for these (.30) updates, so long as you make it the default; don't try to mix legit and "trial" versions side-by-side.

 

Well for me, that have most sense and sure good advice, because there is no difference in functionality, and you will be safe from eventual problems which is the most important thing
...
Even if user have a legit license, just go R2R METHOD as long is doable, when is not, then go back legit, and everything will be fine and no one suffer and no damage is done...

I mean we really should support Steinberg now, because I don't remember when they have done 3 maintenance updates in less of three months (one update per month)...
That is not even Adobe doing which is subscription model and expensive as hell...

They are now really trying hard, no doubt...
Even the protection is not often changed, they don't bother much with that...
Remember when H2O and Team AiR screwed them back in the days, the very next step from Steinberg was rewriting and improving protection which was unbreakable 12yrs long, which is not the case now...

 

SO i got legit cubase with latest update pc if i try to install any of Triebwerk & Neo.Soul.Keys &.Hypnotic.Dance & Dark.Planet. & the new halion add ons it says trial or , do i have to copy a .dll file somewhere to make them all work ? every thing else is fine and r2r is working etc.
Any help be great thanks

I am using legit an R2R versions side by side.
Its absolutely no problem to use both on the same machine.
And I use Cubase/Nuendo 12.0.30 legit version downloaded from Steinberg without problems.
I made me a little batch so that I can toggle between legit and R2R if needed.
It just needs to move 2 DLLs back and forth.

Btw. it has it's advantages to operate R2R and legit together. Plugins that are not transferred to the new lic system - like Halion 6 - work very well when you have a license on eLicenser, while I'm able to use content in the plugin, R2R has freed at the same time.
Once all plugins are freed by R2R it will make no sense running both SbS ofc.

Probably they know, because they know how their system operates and on what files it depends, but in this case maybe they don't, because other teams have used other activation methods and TEAM R2R is UNIQUE!
But again, that is not the biggest problem, the problem is that their flaws get so public and masses will learn about it and they will make stronger at some point and in other way most people will not buy additional software if you get me...
They will buy, for example just Cubase, but not Nuendo or GA or HALion, because of its price, but with that trick, they can use all of them for price of one or even for free, and that will encourage most people not to buy it. I hope you got my point...
And people do that, small studios, all they love money, so there is no one 100% legit, except BIG FISH, etc.

And I believe that every developer care about their protection system, otherwise they would remove it and make it open source and public, for free...
With Steinberg that is not the case, they just took the brake and give more chanses so all people can test their software without having a dongle, or even need to buy it for sake of testing.


Soft eLicenser is totally busted, so that was not way to make relief and transfer pro versions to SeL so most people could test it...
Which I personally think that was a big mistake they have made....
They should ditch just the dongle and keep eLCC old fashiones style, and SeL was faster and I like it more...

I don't know why, but that way could and iLOK get broken since is kind of a license manager, with simple emulator....
