I would like to remake the drums for the intro to Everlong with the hihat pattern and
the accents on some of the hihats. It seems like an easy enough thing to do but a video on someone who makes it in a software program like a kontakt library would be cool or just drum samples that have that sound and different variations of that sound would be appreciated.

    Sound is at 15 seconds

It's just 16th-notes with an accent (and a slight release on the hihat foot) on the last (overlapping) 4th-note. Taka-taka-tsss.

Do you have to do something with the velocity of the hihats ? if I just put them in normally, it sounds very mechanical and not like a real drummer.

There are accents and release on the hihat stand (at the same time). There is also micro-variety in dynamics/velocity and sound on the "steady" and consistant hits (a bit of humanization).
Ofc it's a real drummer! It's Dave Grohl, AKA God.
