The new protection isn't the thing, it still can be cracked but keygenning takes more effort.
Problem are all the traps they built in and it takes a lot of time to find & patch all of them
(probably not for R2R but for people like me and other single person crackers).

In the end it only would make sense to crack it once in a year as the efforts are pretty high.
Plus there are still some VMProtect parts in the binaries but they don't seem to do anything.
Maybe it's for comparing the code for manipulation in the memory and if it's modified, some
other traps could snap, which then wouldn't be patchable as long as VMProtect isn't defeated.
Because of this, a regkey (no code changes) is the best option but this doesn't work anymore
since they swapped to C&R protection. It's a circle of crap.

But who knows what future brings ;)

The way you need to assign sounds and instruments to tracks manually, this is the main thing. you cannot change a channel from stereo to mono, the best way to do is to "dry" the side signal of a song (wtf). You cannot mix a song professionally in Fl Studio. Everybody export the stems and go to another daw. if you record vocals, is a pain on the ass to mix, because every shot creates a new "sample" and you need to assign to the same track on the console, very confuse.

Those "new features" are probably 10 years old on other DAWs.
Paying $500 to get the full version of a software that's only good for making sketches and 1-min beats? No, thanks. An iPad can do the same these days, and better.

You're not an iPad guy and you wanna feel pro? Get Reaper for $60, Logic is $200, Ableton is $750 but includes A LOT MORE samples and effects no other DAW has (not to mention the lots of racks and plugins you can get for free from the community). Serious DAWs can integrate with any studio, that being analog, digital or hybrid. FL Studio simply doesn't and has it's own complicated way to do things.

People should be more aware about this, give your money to the right company

I paid like 260 canadian for the producer edition, no one said you have to buy the best version of it and you do know they give out free lifetime updates right? Many of the things they're adding is basically just trying to make it easier for the user, not big changes but very welcoming for us who rely on it to do our job.

 

Your argument is moot since you only pay for it once and get a lifetime of free updates from FL Studio. Unlike most of the other guys.

You can right click on a playlist-track and choose "Track mode" -> "Audio Track" -> Every sample in your playlist-track is then automatically linked to a specific mixer channel, even when you cut the sample. When you change the mixer-channel for a sample every sample in the same track is also automatically changed to that mixer channel

So you paid $260 for an incomplete version, you're missing more than 15 plugins. And yes, you get lifetime upgrades...on things other DAWs have had for like 10 years now.

People prefer feeling comfortable with what they already know, even if that will stop them from exploring new things.

 

Cool, what about the rest of the things I mentioned? Also: poor editing tools, very limited configuration in terms of bussing, routing, lack of integration with most MIDI controllers/control surfaces.

FL Studio is aimed at producers in a basic/intermediate level. Nothing wrong with that, but saying it's a professional software is like saying Canva and Photoshop are the same and they can do the same.

 

Software doesn't define professionalism, it's the user who does.

A friend of mine produces audio for tv shows & commercials for international brands, also some big players everyone knows
and he does that in FL Studio and some other DAWs while FL is his main DAW.
A lot of big electronlical music artists use FL as well (Camo & Krooked for example) and I know from people who produced
big Hits using toy pianos or pots & spoons. In the end it's not about the medium, it's about how you use your professionalism
and creativity.

Software DOES define professionalism at a certain point. Imagine yourself in charge of a recording studio and the only DAW is FL...exactly, pathetic. Simply because of compatibility, flexibility, integration with hardware. It won't work.

Have you seen any professional engineers working in FL Studio? Nope, because the editing tools and routing sucks.

Your friend is a very specific case, and it sounds like he makes jingles anyways. Which demonstrates FL is for beatmakers, not producers.

I can tell you I've seen people doing live work with FL Studio, including myself.
Personally, I use Mac and WIN machines and several DAWs. I tend to gravitate towards Logic and MainStage in Mac, but I like using Ableton, Studio One, and FL Studio in Windows. I sometimes even use FL Studio on the Mac just to keep myself current.

Software *does not* define professionalism. It's not the tools, it's the artisan. History provides plenty of examples.
