I don't think I've ever seen so many under 50 mb sample libraries. I tried 2 of them and both were deleted in under 2 minutes. They remind me of these 4 track cassette multitrack demo's people made back in the 1980's. Any of you ever use those prehistoric machines from back then? I think these sample packs are comprised of old demo's that people never got a bite on from a label, and they've dug them up now and are trying to make a few bucks by calling them "samples". I'm sure a couple of people will find some use for some of these, but sorry, I can't help but think they're from a train station called 'Basura-ville'.

 

People who complain about samples/loops probably don't need to perform under performance.

For my own music I sample/synthesize/process my own snares and everything, but if a director for a film asks me to do a musical cue for the next WIP foley track, it's a done thing that I get a fart sample off a foley pack instead of taking my time to record artisanal farts off my own ass, placing the mic just so and eating the right amount of beans the day before.

Same thing with other instruments really. Just use and get what you need, more variation and availability is always good, whether I need them or not.

 

One of the things that surprises me the most (because I live in a bubble apparently) is that there are so many trap/drill sample packs. Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't these about 3-4 years too late?

 

You're not wrong, for the cutting edge hit tunes this is past history.

But for people wanting to seem cool, like TV series, B-budget films, or adverts, this is what the impoverished musicians will need.

Yes, a lot of those sample packs are often embarrassing, perhaps we should have an artistic policy for sample pack releases, or an art director who filters the junk from valuable products. But maybe it couldn't work: how to tell what's interesting and what's not? what is the target? How to choose?
No, I don't think there is a solution, looking for good sample packs in AZ is like looking for needle in a haystack. after all it's the same thing that happens when looking for good music on spotify

 

Definitely, Fantastic and hidera must do money flooding AZ with samples and loops. It looks like masochism sending 5 pages of these stuff…
