    20 $ x 12 = 240 $
    1 Year = 240 $
    10 Years = 2400 $

So how does that work if one of these preset-chasers™ builds up an album or two. Subscribes to one of these, switches out all their patches from sounds directly from them; cancel subscription and "legally" use those samples in future work?

Yes but you're not supposed to spend that money forever, just get Hollywood when it's on sale for 200~ish Euros since the other libraries aren't worth the subscription

Skipping forward 10 years: Everyone hires a poor Indian on Fiverr who manages his subscriptions, the GASshole

I already own it and have since the sale I mentioned.

I think of Falcon differently than most other "rompler" styled programs like it. The expansions are what are expensive; but it is a very capable synthesizer without them. Some of the other options would still seem better for non-artistic commercial purposes, where all you really care about is fresh sounds via presets. But Falcon is a very good synth, by itself. This is also including all the fx plugins, too. This does not look like a horrible deal at all, to me. Especially for Mac users, because it is still unreleased by scene because of ilok. The plugins are all very good.

I am very impressed with their products, flexibility that is rarely seen on the market, and the interface is easy to understand

If anyone thinks about it, using the phone they purchased as an example, it is really all they own. Everything inside it is an application. They may have purchased it but the phone is the only physical thing they hold in their hand and if the phone dies everything dies.
The Computer and hardware peripherals are the only physical parts anyone owns, the rest is digital and the apps similarly have to be reinstalled if it dies. So renting is not as stupid as it seems because the difference is nothing other than the financial mechanism and the perspective of ownership. You cannot pack up any software into anything other than into some physical container so you really do not have that feeling of true ownership anyway other than the container, and an intellectual sense of purchasing, which the mind tells you "Therefore, I own it."
The real argument is not the product or ownership, it is the model of sale and purchase that people will love or hate.

The idea is pretty simple: with the increased number of sub services (and the possibility for some to be sub-only, and the real possibility for some to go bankrupt as the sub market gets more competitive) we’ll need to rethink our workflow and only rely on bounced audio tracks (multitrack) for future re-use of the projects.

This way the songs will not even be daw-dependent. Develop a solid workflow of bouncing the project as pre-processed recordings multitrack then a second multitrack post all processing and return channels

then bounce the stems (groups and returns passed through the master channel chain)

backup on 2 separate hard drives and hope for the best

    Risk factors are:
If the company goes bankrupt, your online connection is damaged, in short, if they can no longer access the data.
It's best to have the things you need on your own PC at home and hopefully have made several copies of them.
At home, all you need is a reliable power supply.

Subscription business model is basically a boiling frog strategy. You get seduced by a all the goodies you get for a small monthly fee until you realize that your balls are in their hands.

Thank you @Lois Lane for the video, i'm already so poor that I can't afford this subscription business model, thanks to the massive increase in the price of everything.

This is completely logical. I'd totally agree except too many developers and many of them major, who are making it that your suggestion is not possible. They then wonder why their products get the shit hacked out of them. (Humour - but ironic at that)

Interesting, and that could be expanded a bit. Some of the phone is not ours either, but is based on licenses.
Who remembers that for a time until the patent expired .GIF was suddenly no longer licensed for free and GIFs were then suddenly no longer displayed? :woot:

What about people like me that OWN about 90% of their products already, do we get a cheaper monthly fee for the remaining items?
Well, I havent received any email deals through from UVI.
In the past Ive been impressed with their generosity - giving free or cheap updates on Vintage Vault and product upgrades etc,
So I was half expecting them to say I can have the subscription free for a couple of years but not even an offer email.
