I just tried the new envelope called "curve" .... It's a dream come true, all the steps you want, draw by hand if you wish, and a loop (4 types, infinite, sustain, ping pong or reverse) that can be programmed just anywhere in the envelope ... of course can modulate anything, synchronized or not and can be saved for further use on other patches ... And that's only one of the updated functions ...

Amazing new "modulated modulators" options, I didn't even knew I needed it till now, but now I need it.

 

Easy to oversee, since the Kilohearts fellers don't make a big fuzz about this: whereas previously you could get 5 of the Snapins (individual effect modules, that can be used as single VSTs and as modules inside Snap Heap, Multipass and Phase Plant) for free, they now give away 30 of their snapins for free. And Snap Heap is free as well currently. THIS IS CRAZY GOOD.

Combined with the new Snap Heap update you can generate crazy FX chains. For example, you can use the pitch tracking to modulate the filter cutoff according to the note that is being played (like keytracking in some advanced synths, but you can use it on any source). Or use an envelope follower to modulate the saturation drive, to create dynamically reacting saturation. And so much more.

 

Exactly, and they should explain this better as it's a great marketing point.

I wasn't too convinced with the previous free FX offering of Snap Heap, but man, this v2 update is solid gold!

Ok, the effects themselves are pretty bread & butter, so solid workmanlike things, but the berserk modulation section that goes to eleven really makes this plugin a keeper.

I like their kHs ONE synth that they gave (or maybe still give) away as a freebie a while back. Again nothing earthshattering but the immediate tweakability and a good sound has found it's uses.

As for marketing, given these freebies I'll certainly look into their paid offerings now.

 

How did you get kHs ONE? I thought it was discontinued.

 

The curve in multipass is awesome, now we can create 5 band multiband sidechain, filter anything ! And with Fullscreen curve editor

That figures that it's discontinued as there's only a VST2 version of it, as far as I can tell the rest of Kilohearts' stuff is VST2/3.

 

kHs ONE is in the Kilohearts Subscription r2r 1.8.28.

I have convolver and Faturator.
Convolver is excellent, you can do very good reverb with it.
But Faturator, man, what a disappointment. It's anything but fat. At least compared with the one included for free with Rapid.
Well, such a disappointment that I decided not to buy anymore snapins after this one.

So you should try before you buy. The whole thing is at sister site anyways.

 

Can't you download demos from Kilohearts?

 

I think so, yes. But I bought it on a hurry because they sold it for half price for a limited time... I was wrong, I should have tried it before.
As the synth sound so good, I never thought they had snapins like this one, which is also an expensive one compared to the others.

phaseplant 2 on sale for 99

 

Phaseplant is like Fabfilter plugins. Not over-hyped, and about as good as software versions get. It's my 2nd favorite phase distortion synthesis option

 

Look at an advanced "Blak box" reverb programed into snapheat using several instances of Convolver and a stereo output, but with necessary macros, to control it easily from Phaseplant.
The small yellow circles are the parameters controlled by each macro.
The red square is what I see from Phaseplant once I close SnapHeat edit.
