Cubase 12 Pro v.r help

Discussion in 'Cubase / Nuendo' started by Vincent Price, May 17, 2022.

  1. Hello

As some of you know, Cubase 12 Pro for Mac came out today on the sister site...for those who want it it is an exciting time...when I installed it following the instructions then tried opening it I got a quick flash of the splash screen and then cubase shut down, upon clicking on the icon again it just bounced in the dock for a few seconds then closed...anyone else had this?

It seems you have to keep your SIP disabled in order to work. Just tried it also.

  4. Well that is exceedingly dodgy...I'm not doing that!

Still grateful for V.R. for even giving us an option anyway—hopefully there will be an update (particularly for M1 users). Would prefer to keep SIP enabled also.

It's not necessarily bad code—it's just extra parameters. Hopefully V.R. can update being SIP-friendly.

I don't want to be a beta tester. Not for VR's release, I mean for Steinberg. I'd disable SIP for a VR release if I wanted to run it. I don't.

  9. But is it really worth taking that risk...I don't think so...

I wonder if these zoomers ever leave the house. OMG, my mac will be vulnerable!

  13. just looking out for others is all...doesn't make any difference to me, I use logic predominantly...was purely intersted in trying out cubase 12 before buying again.

not necessarily, but we don't know what will be modified, and if something goes wrong how to undo it.

Especially if it is patching system components, yay.
And then people cry afterwards , 'my system is not running stable anymore' uhh ohh evil apple

I've never asked anyone here for help with anything. Or complained about my computer. So I'm really not certain why you would quote me.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression it does not have to stay disabled.
Has anyone run csrutil disable in a terminal window, rebooted and then tried it to see if Cubase runs?

OK - assuming it runs, then close Cubase, run csrutil enable and reboot again. Then try to run it.
If it fails to run then yes, I agree your system is theoretically vulnerable with SIP permanently disabled . If you do not use it for Internet and only recording and music it won't matter. But if you use it for every website known to man, you really do not want to leave SIP disabled, even using a VPN.

  19. You need to keep it disabled...which I am not doing...I'm not risking malware just for the sake of Cubase...isn't worth it...wait until another user has released a version that doesn't need sip to be disabled

Ah, you have tested it. I can understand not wanting it permanently disabled.
