So is it possible to use this in the studio with your old PC and an Ethernet switch - like a kind of Waves only alternative to UAD? If so, how do you set itu up?

Does anyone know how to put this to good use? It looks freaking awesome but there is a severe lack of useful information regarding it's application. If anyone can shed some informed light on this subject it would be very much appreciated!

MultiRack Native relies on power of Host Computer to process the audio and uses ASIO/Core Audio Interface to connect to a console.

    What you need:

PC or Mac Host Computer – The main brain and controller for the system that runs the MultiRack live plugin host application. Refer to the system requirements page when choosing your computer.
ASIO/Core Audio Interface - a variety of standard ASIO/Core Audio Interfaces are supported:
Multichannel Analog interface to connect to Analog consoles
Firewire/USB built in interfaces to connect to Behringer X32, Presonus StudioLive, Midas Venice, Mackie Onyx-i etc…
Waves SoundGrid interfaces to connect to Yamaha, A&H and MADI-enabled consoles.
MultiRack Native Application - the host software required to run Waves Native plugins.
Native Plugins – Waves Native plugins for audio processing hosted by MultiRack Native.
USB Flash Drive (optional) - The USB flash drive key holds the licenses for Waves V9 plugins and provides activated licenses on the go. When using MultiRack, the USB flash drive must be connected at all times to the computer. Check USB Flash Drive compatibility. Alternatively, you can Activate the Waves V9 plugins and MultiRack software to your Host Computer's hard drive through Waves License Center.
Optional MIDI Controller – A MIDI controller can be used to control Plugins in real time, without using the mouse or keyboard

Cheers Lyric8, yes, I think I am hoping there is some way to do this... I had noticed that in the Multigrid Native documentation it shows a Gigabit Ethernet switch connecting the 'Server' to a Laptop running a DAW. I'm wondering because technically a server is another name for a PC, correct? So if it were running the correct software it should be capable of the same job...

Any of you guys tried this?

    I have not tried this

but from what I can gather from reading about it

I have not seen a setup where you have your DAW running on one computer and use another computer to run MultiRack

over an Ethernet switch to your DAW

they do not specify which software they use as a server,,,windows7,,,Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard,,

    Server software can be pricy

found specs below they are running Linux

The Waves SoundGrid Server One has been tested and certified by Waves for use with the SoundGrid networking and audio processing platform. The Waves SoundGrid system was created for use in live sound, broadcast, and post production facilities to provide a low latency environment for Waves plugins on compatible DiGiCo and Yamaha consoles.

The SoundGrid Server One features four GB of RAM and an Intel DP55WB Media Series LGA 1156 motherboard. It is designed to provide the low latency audio processing within the SoundGrid system without taxing the CPU of your recording and playback computer.

It is capable of running up to 256 instances of Waves' SSL Channel Mono plugin, 244 instances of the H-Delay Mono plugin, 160 instances of TrueVerb Mono plugin, and 256 instances of the C4 Mono plugin at 48kHz.

Runs a customized Linux OS that is optimized for audio processing

you would need to experiment, I will keep looking

Thanks for the great info buddy - I think it is such an exciting concept and I would love to know if anyone in this forum has the Knowledge and/or the inclination to set something up without the need for a $2,800 waves server...

    Integrated SoundGrid I/O Solutions

WSG-Y16 mini-YGDAI card for Yamaha consoles

Waves card for DiGiCo SD-series consoles

M-Waves card for Allen & Heath iLive consoles

I think you need a digital mixer, all the add in cards go into the

mixers for Ethernet access not into a computer

Behringer X32 one of the cheaper ways to go, add in cards 1500+
