Hello
I have several synthesizers on my iPad and I want to use their sounds on my computer and be able to record in Cubase (PC). I searched a lot but could not find the right way to do it. I actually found a few different methods but they seem to not work properly on some iPads.

If you want to export tracks have made in Garage Band, just export the 'sounds' as stems and import them to whatever. You can use iCloud as transfer medium between your "computer" and you iPad.

If you are running different software, not Garage Band, just look up how to export stems from <Random Name> and transfer the same way.

It is a little hard to figure out what you are actually trying to do.

If you want to use the synthesizers themselves in Cubase, that isn't going to work.

I connect my 2017 10.5 Pro directly to my audio interface via 1/4 cable and use as a sound module that way. No midi, just raw Wav takes get printed like the old days.

 

Thank you all for your answers. In fact, I was hoping to connect the midi keyboard to the iPad, then play and record in my PC DAW(Cubase) (with any cable or device needed).

It is a good method. But my iPad does not have headphone output. USB-C only.

Does studiomux work without problems?

 

You guys are overthinking this.

You can connect any iOS compatible multichannel interface to an iPad and it will record or send multichannel audio out. I

f this interface happens to have a MIDI connection the iPad will recognize that.

Now however you need MTC or some kind of sync if you want to sync with Cubase (PITA.)

If you have a USB C hub you can connect a USB keyboard / a multichannel audio interface and a power source you can send a multichannel audio into an other interface and into Cubase and adjust for latency. Ughh

Or you can just learn to metronome use a USB-C or better yet a USB hub and whatever connection USB keyboard is supported + power --> bounce stems, export and import into whatever DAW and mix.

Getting multichannel sync for audio and MIDI between 2 devices like that / w.e. / to each his own.

I guess sometimes the journey is goal, best of luck.

 

yeah for me studiomux works fine, both wirelessly (wifi) and with usb cable.

I have the same question! Studiomux sounds really intriguing. How is latency?

I have a 3.5mm jack on my ipad and an Irig Midi ->lightning than allows me to run a midi cable to the iPad. In Out and Thru. I'm hoping to play midi channel from logic=>iPad (via old school midi 5 Pin DIN) then take audio from 3.5mm. ( I suppose the midi could be played via GarageBand on the iPad, if it was already pre-done)

I was just going to record from the 3.5mm straight into an audio channel in logic. Then workout the latency somehow... I doubt studiomux would offer any advantages considering my setup.

 

with studiomux you can hear what youre playing in the ipad from the ipad itself, before it reaches your daw, so you can turn off monitoring in your daw and theres no latency.
with the jack i dont think you can hear from your ipad anymore and can only hear from monitoring in your daw which might give you some latency (unless you have a splitter, which might give you some noise if not latency)
