yeah seems almost as good as devious machines duck for a better price, I might pick it up. I started using the old one back in the day before using like 100 other alternatives. Wish the audio sidechain option had a filter and a threshold so you could use it on loops to only trigger when the kick plays or something but I'm still happy.

 

Would you recommend this over Duck? I don’t own a side chain plugin yet so thinking wisely where to invest. Will appreciate your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Well LFO Tool is kinda expensive so if I have to "buy" it, I rather choose VolumeShaper 6 because Kickstart 2 is literally a cheaper version of VolumeShaper 6. Even VolumeShaper 4 still does the job well.

so save your money, get VolumeShaper 6 because it's worth it.

 

I did this with your idea. it's really a nice tip. (using lfo tool in place of something like kickstart) thank you




the offset of the lfo/envelope (modulators) automates the compression ratio on the kick. as an example. I had not thought of doing this this way.

I think I will buy the upgrade, but if I didn't have version 1 I think there are better alternatives, but the upgrade is really cheap and version 1 is so nice and easy to use.

 

Hrmmm i didnt had to pay for the upgrade.. i own everything from CableGuys and they just added it to my account at not cost.

 

I will continue to use pro-c2 for sidechain and of course lfo tool when I run out of sends I can do in a channel

Something like this with build in phase shifter would be something new.

 

Pro-C2 isn't as clean as LFOTool or any other volume shaping plugins because it is a compressor after all.

 

I had v1 already and also VolumeShaper 6 but with a € 4.13 upgrade price I just added v2 to my sidechain options. VolumeShaper 6 is still my go to ducking tool including all the other things it can do, but Kickstart has something else to offer > it displays the waveform in realtime even better compared to most oscilloscope plug-ins! (just turn the big knob back to 0% obviously)

Using compressors for ducking isn't necessary anymore to my opinion. These shapers nowadays can do a lot more, and you don't have to deal with plops and clicks anymore.

this works well in more traditional genres, but doesn't create the aesthetic pump that is so common and necessary in dance and some modern pop. You can do the same thing with soothe2 or sonible smart comp too. Kickstart is for making that pump, hence slapping nicky romero's name on the tin
