    Hi all

I'm struggling to get k'ed Maschine 2 expansions to run on OSX (Maschine also k'ed).

I installed the expansions but when I try to load a project patch, it says that the library is not installed.
Furthermore, it still starts loading the patch but all the samples are missing. The paths of the samples vary from expansion to expansion and indicate that these are the paths from whomever uploaded the certain expansion.

Unlike in Kontakt, there is no "search for all samples in folder x" function, so loading every single missing sample is not possible.

    Have I overseen something?

    Thanks for helping!

    OSX 10.14.6 and Maschine 2 v2.14.7

Edit: Forgot to mention that there is also no library showing up in the Library tab of Maschine, so i manually set up new paths as User library or load the patches via the Files browser tab, but the missing samples remain.

if you do not get a quick answer from someone who uses Maschine, send me a pm. I am on Mojave, but I do not use Maschine; so I'd have to install it and actually try this. Mention a library you have this issue with.

Hey, thanks for your kind offer to test is by yourself.

I just started working now! Don't know what I changed.. I just started the standalone once, but can't hardly imagine that this was the reason. It works now with the file browser.

Edit: I think I figured it out - it's because I moved the the samples after initial install to another destination. Adjusting the path within Preferences/Libraries helped. I can swear I tried that obvious one before and it didn't work, maybe I missed something.

Happy that it works now, but there is still something I am thinking about. Without the corresponding Library entry the library wouldn't work (creating a User library entry didn't solve the loading issues) - so I wonder which files are responsible for that library entry. The xml in NI/Service Center folder, or the plist in Library/Preferences?

I would like to make the libraries portable in a way that I don't need the installers anymore in case I change to a newer system. Is that possible?

oh yes, you ALWAYS have to run the standalone first! 100% the reason. I think even legit is this way.

oh well, I am downloading the sounds of blaxploitation soundtracks in Street Swarm 2. Who knew? lol

Wow that one sounds great! I'll give it a try. :)

I just encountered an issue with a library that didn't came with an iso to install, just the raw files plus an additional xml.

Putting the xml to service center didn't make the library show up in Maschines library browser unfortunately.

Now that would be a situation were some experimenting could show the way how to get this pre-installed library to run - if you want to try that, the library is called Burnt Hues, it's the only release from the sister site that we got.

Also tried to create a custom plist file, but Maschine seems to delete that particular plist file (located in Preferences) when I startup the software. As if it knew that that plist shouldn't be there. Difficult one.

Yeah that's why I asked about specific expansions. I have read user comments that are sometimes like the ones about this Burnt Hues one.
One person stated: Just place it like an installed library and after that add it to the user library in Maschine.
And then another saying that doesn't work either. lol. This is more typical.

I can give it a try in a few. It's only a gig.

Yes, and I have also read somebody saying that the "sounds.com" method worked for him - whatever that means. I guess it just means adding the library as a user library, according to this tutorial: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/4419613850385

Placing the Burnt Hues as a user library didn't do the job for me unfortunately. I'm interested to see how you get along with that library later. Hope that you find a solution! :)

move the entire folder to /Users/Shared. works fine. it's 2gb. I'm going to delete it if you are good :).

Nice, that worked for me - adding it to User library and putting into the shared folder. But why isn't it working on any other location even when I update the path in my Preferences / User libraries settings? I would like to have the Expansions stored on a different hard drive, thats why I'm asking. :)

you could try setting an alias in the shared folder, i need to try this myself as well, those libraries are taking up to much space on my internal drive.

I know, I saw the same comments from other users about that one expansion. It's why I deleted it, because I don't want it to take up 2gb of space on my system drive.

I think you could probably use a Symbolic Link aka Symlink. You may also need to codesign again anything that becomes a problem because of moving stuff around. (if it does)

that's what i meant with setting an alias, move the folder to the desired external location, right click, select make alias and then move that alias to the location where the folder used to be. atleast that's how i think it's supposed to work.

edit: also don't forget to remove alias in the name of the alias after moving it

@thuglife69 You only have to load a kit and if it asks for a sample missing in that kit, you just have to point to this sample that is missing manually to re-assign it and after that the references will be updated an then everything in that expansions works.

This usually happens if the uploader didn't upload an ISO but just created a zip from the installed Extension library folder as it was installed on his system. Then somehow the references to the samples in the kit will point to a location which is not available on your system.

No need to create any symbolic links

"move the entire folder to /Users/Shared. " It is a clearly available location. It is where the samples are supposed to reside, but are not.
    This is why a symlink.

I've been using Maschine since 2009 on macOS and I am having all my expansions on an extra hard disk and the way I explained it is how it is done on macOS in case a kit can't find a sample!

Now either the sample/sound/preset is missing or it must be re-assigned for the reasons I've mentioned. And it doesn't matter if the sample is located in a location which exists on the end-user's computer – it's about the path stored within the kit of the system it came from that's causing the issue.

@thuglife69 The Library Tab consists of 2 categories: a system library and a user library section indicated by this symbol you have to click on so the user library will be displayed:

    Bildschirmfoto 2022-04-14 um 08.25.43.png

Everytime you don't install an extension via an actual installer, any expansion added manually (by adding a path to a location where expansions are located in Maschine's preferences and hit the scan function), these expansion are listes in the user section.

Sorry for taking a while to come back to this - I just needed a break after a whole week of dealing with Maschine expansions (I tired as many as possisble to know which tools I'd want to use in the future and which to delete).

Regarding the Alias way - I think that this was one of the first things I tried and it didn't work.. I will try it once more and report back on this.

It's sad that installing the ISO seems to be a must because I need to keep the installers for that case, but well - that's how it is then.

The User Library way didn't work for me btw, it just showed me this library in the Library browser (when clicking on the user button, as you said) but the samples were still missing. I don't need the Library browser, I have the packs sorted by genres when searching in the Files browser.

Finding each missing sample in the hope that it gets saved for the next load is nice to know but way too much for me - I'd rather skip those expansions that came without ISO and don't work limitless, as almost all the Maschine packs do more or less only two things, Westcoast and Eastcoast HipHop/RnB/Trap sound. So whatever library won't work, there are two similliar that do the job I'd say. :)
