Deactivate CPU Power Saving Management in the BIOS

In some cases it is recommended to deactivate the power saving settings of the CPU in the BIOS. In this article we will show you where you can find the options and how you can deactivate them so that the power management options CPU P State Control and CPU C State Control are completely deactivated in the BIOS.

Deactivate CPU power management
1. Press the Delete key during the boot process to enter the BIOS
2. Go to -> Advanced CPU Configuration -> Advanced Power Management Configuration
3. Change Power Technology to Custom and Energy Efficient Turbo to Disable
4. Switch to CPU P State Control, deactivate EIST (P-States) and Turbo Mode
5. Then switch to CPU C State Control, change Package C State Limit to C0 / C1 state and deactivate CPU C3 Report, CPU C6 Report and Enhanced Halt State (C1E).

As other well suggested you should start to identfy if ploblem is in the software or it´s in the hardware.
Taking in count you use some not licensed stuff probably there is malware stuff running over there (so typical), with a serious infection the ONLY 100% effective way is to reinstall OS, fresh install of everything from scratch except non licensed stuff and check, then you´ll have time for checking cooling issues if the problem persists.

 

To me, his CPUs temps look fine, but they could be better. My i7-6900K reaches about 58c when all cores loaded 100% [stress test], idling at about 25c now when it's 18c outside. But I also undervolted it -0.160V.

Undervolting is the greatest way to keep your CPU cooler and last longer. Put it at a frequency couple of GHz above stock frequency and then undervolt -0.1V. Check stability with some stability test. Put the voltage even lower, check stability. When you start having problems, just up the voltage 2 notches and you'll be good to go.

I use Arctic Cooling MX-2 paste. It's one of the best and most durable. I used to use Arctic Silver paste as I thought it was better, but my temps dropped a few degrees after applying MX-2.

The secret is also to use just a pea sized drop in the middle of the CPU. It will spread itself evenly when you attach the heatsink. Change the paste about every 3-5 years.

Anyway, I don't think the culprit is overheating [still not a bad idea to change the paste and reseat the cooler] but malware of some kind. Install Malwarebytes and check with it for every kind of malware.

if you work consistently on a project, there's very little chance it would take soo long 1 hour for cpu to start overheating - usually you'd see throttling within few seconds of heavy load, or within few minutes at best,
I bet there's some malware, cryptominer, shady stuck update etc...whatever software background issue going on,

I'd start troubleshooting by physically disconnecting from internet and work for few hours, if issue remains exactly same, then I'd run some antimalware utility like free Eset Online Scanner

 

You can do what ever you want but these are the things I know for a fact.

1. Water cooler you don't have to worry about dust getting on the CPU fan and not cooling.

2. Water / Liquid transfers heat better than air

3. lastly it's way quiet.

 

I used Arctic Silver also I liked it but MX 2 now from what I read is better.

 

agree, the temperature looks reasonable, now the cup spike that is telling something. ive been spared of mayor problems with trojans but i had one severe case just a while ago.

usually 90% of the time problems ive had are software related. myself i look for solutions for max 2 days, then i rather clean reinstall, if it doesn't wreck my workflow. i have a streamlined use of plugs nowadays so i only backup my projects and libraries and reinstall every two years or so.

Right, 60°C is nowhere near the critical temperature for this CPU. This shouldn't be a reason for throttling.

 

I run my CPU at 100° just so my legs get a bit of air along with the analog warmth of the fan noises which also acts as a source of pink noise which I hear is great for mixing. I want to thank my CPU for running at those temperatures while acting as if nothing happened.

I had something similar, i5-10600k, Win10x64. It was the builtin Intel GPU driver causing a memory leak. It would slowly eat up all the RAM til things started freezing and crashing.
You can pick it up in Task Manager\Details tab if you add the 'Working Set' column. Sort by largest and see which process is causing it, if any.
Better - use Process Hacker for better info, its TaskMan on steroids.
I was on the latest driver so downgraded and all ok. Latest one to date is now ok too.

 

Ah an educated person. You do not see quotes from Order of the Garter much. Rarely actually.

Everyone is speculating and justifiably because without being physically present, the best anyone can do is base any possible source of issue on the author's description.

 

1) dust accumulation is matter of fan airflow through the case/heatsink, which is literally exactly same with water cooler and air cooler
2) transfer of heat has nothing to do with actual cooling capacity - just because you transfer heat through 50cm pipes into heatsink doesn't make any real difference compared to equally capable heatsink attached to the cpu heatspreader directly
3) sum of mechanical moving components generates noise, having one fan on air cooler is way less noisy than water pump with multiple fans on water cooling chamber

 

Really you car fans make more noise than your water pump.
Also the Water pump has no fans it just the block with the pump attached in the housing.
The radiator has the fans. The fans don't turn on unless
the water / Antifreze reaches a certain temp.
I don't know where you are basing your facts on but water / Antifreeze cools better than Air. it's proven.

Just look at ever car there are not Air cooled cars why?
Last one I know was the VW bug.


Either way they can do what ever they want.

 

It's true the water pump can do a little bit of noise if it's busy. But from that to comparing it to a air cooled or fans in general...
There're very good air coolers but liquid cooling is superior in noise (and ofc temps) almost always.
Just do your research and choose, they're both valid.

 

But don't the bubbles make some noise?

You should stir the water to prevent bubbles
