As per the Responses (Frequency-Phase response, Impulse Response), hands down, HD 650 are the best to go for in this range.
    HD600 are also good choice.
Another good choice that you haven't mentioned is AudioTechnica R70X.

I mainly prefer Openback headphones when leakage is not at all an issue.
So for tracking kind of stuff, one must get Closed back Headphones. But for Mixing and Mastering purpose and QC purposes solely, you should get an openback. Also get something that is comfortable.
I would suggest Valour Ear Cups and not Leatherette Ear Cups. Some Earphones sit very tight and make it hard for prolonged usage. images.png Audio-Technica-ATH-R70x-PAPFR-1000x485.png K712-Pro.jpg images (1).jpeg images (1).png

Maybe you should go to a shop and test them out once you have a short list because everyone's ears are different. Even then it will take time to get used to the sound of each but it will be a good starting point, first impressions goes a long way.

When I was looking I seen a lot of advice from people who were using headphones for listing pleasure rather than as an analytical tool. Boring flat analytical headphones sometimes where not popular and are underrated a lot, some tend to be less expensive because of this so don't always look for the most expensive.

Also I found the amp you are using will have an impact on what the headphones sound like, some of the Beyers sound good no matter what you listen to them on but add an amp and other headphones will surpass them. There are some less expensive headphones that are hard to drive but once you add a good amp they take off. This will also add to your cost if you have to buy a good amp, so test the phones on a good amp before you purchase, unless you have no intention of spending more money and are OK with being limited to what you already have.

You should keep your old headphones and use both your new ones and old when mixing, then check on other devices to find problems.

Although the right headphones will help, I think your ear is more important than your headphones. You will get used to whatever you purchase. Also using reference tracks.

...but then again I could be completely wrong. :dunno: In that case just get the most expensive HIFIMAN. :hahaha:$$$$$

For mixing Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro’s, for mastering Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro’s. As of right now I have two pairs of Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro’s and one pair of Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro’s. I have yet to catch the sale. Every time it goes on a good sale I have no money.

My personal experience taught me using different headphones for mixing and mastering doesn't make sense!
    Au contraire, mes amis!
    It's just messing around!
Using only one headphone for all steps works by far best for me!

My Room with full range Genelec system sounds exact the same somewere between the Sennheiser HD600 and HD800s in my room i have a bit more details as on the HD600 and a tiny bit less then with the HD800s. So i can switch between speakers and headphones without my ears needing to adapt. Took me years to achieve but in your situation i believe the HD600 will be a great choice to make sure it translates well! its very flat and yet detailed for that money...... Actually i was surpised how good it is! knowing its price! Cheers and hope you will find a headphone helping you to achieve your goals.

But be aware that H600 is Impedance: 300 Ohm

True! You need a solid amp to power it properly. I am using an Antelope Orion32 gen3 and Sennheiser HDV820 to power it/them...... so if you cant power it dont buy it! Cheers

I bought Sound ID's Sonarworks and I'm impressed. It balances my headphones in a way that sound more flat and less harsh.
    Definetely recommend it.
I'll try this in the meantime and think about getting headphones (in the end buying sonarworks is cheaper)
