Is it possible to load VST3 instruments in a host that natively supports only VST2?

    Hi! I'm using for my live gigs the good old Cantabile 2 (that loads only VST2's).
    Is there a way (wrapper plugins?) to load a VST3 in it? Something like JBridge, for instance...

    I wanted to sample with extreme sample converter VST3 plugins (there is only VST3 x64 version available).

    My quick solution was the following:

    VST3 x64 --> Patchwork Synth x64 VST2 (since it loads only 64bit version) --> jbridge --> ESC

    but then no samples are recorded? It was the TR707 by Roland which i wanted sample.
    I suspect there is a problem with Patchwork maybe? Could also be the TR707 plugin.

    any other ideas? Does Polac's VST support everything? i need midi in port to play those keys, which have the drums on it.

    Thanks for your answer. Tried right now Polac's with no luck, I don't know what to do :( I copied all files in my vst2 folder, made a plugin scan within Cantabile and then what next? There are still no VST3 available in Cantabile.

    This sounds very much like doing-it-wrong™, polac's scans your VST3 folder, the only thing you should be doing to install it is putting polac's .dll and .core in your vst2 folder, you should not be copying/moving anything else; and it may not work if the vst3 wasn't installed properly.

    Well, it's not going to know any other place to scan, the VST3 path isn't a registry key like VST2 was (even though noone honoured it)

    Try MPC Beats. Free, win/osx, can autosample both VST (VST2, no VST3) and external hardware. Exporting a MPC5000 program gives you a folder with some program file, and then a bunch of WAVs.

    For VST3 you can use Element, free unlike Patchwork

    @Qrchack didnt know about MPC Beats. i will check it out.
    Hmm MPC Beats is still not a super solution for sampling synth instruments, but here jbridge still works:

    VST2 x64 --> jbridge --> ESC, this should work i guess.

    Sorry for hijacking your topic, but it was sort of connected to a problem i had last night.

    Hmm Element is not really free, its min. 5 bucks when you dont know how to compile the code yourself.

    Hmm... I don't know. I use it without problems for vst3 in Maschine and Komplete kontrol.

    Well, the point is that I don't know what to expect from the wrapper.
    I mean, once it is recognized by the host what should happen? If I load it, nothing happens (I get a dialog box "plugin has not parameters" or a black window). And of course no VST3 is shown in the available plugin list...

    Can you tell me your "workflow"?

    Win10 LTSC + Cantabile 2 (x86 / x64)

    In S1 (that natively supports VST3) everything is ok
