Hey guys, I'm trying to download the new version of waves and cant seem to extract the files. I downloaded it and extracted the rar files with 7zip and its giving me a bin file after I extract it and once I try and open the bin file with Power ISO it gives me an error message saying it cant be opened. Any suggestions? Thanks

 

based on your screenshot you still have archives left (r00, r01, r02) that need to be extracted.
usually if you just extract the *.rar file it will extract everything that is attached to the "master-file"

Hey thanks for the response, all of the .rar files show the same thing when I extract them with 7 zip. it just gives me that waves .bin file and as far as I know .bin files have to be opened with power iso and when I try and open the bin with power ISO its giving me an error message saying it cant open it. This is not the first time I've done this I'm very confused.

 

no, the bin files are there for all the data, they carry the binaries. you dont have to open the bin files. after you've extracted everything correctly, you only have to execute the .exe file.

why are you even trying to open the rar file? please just extract everything from the beginning.

what does your file structure look like?

 

Yeah very strange when I extract the .rar nothing is in there but the bin file. usually the installers just pop up

 

Man i have a suggestion ....
Download WavesCentral . install it ,
choose your vsts , download and install them ,
use VR Patch
and you are ready to go .......

 

please believe me... you dont have to open the bin files :D

 

I'm thinking its possible my virus software removed the .exe files after the downlaod

 

@Nick Bellagio AVG, AVAST, Norton, McAfee are randomly deleting (possibly unwanted) files from your hdd, I recommend to remove those wannabe AV softwares ..

You don't need to remove your AV
just Teach it what and where to scan, or better where not to scan.

Drop 7zip for warez, its not always the best and some strange errors might occur.
Winrar does it best, the teams use it, so better get used to it.

For everything else its fine, but again, complex rar´s like multi Gig samplebanks
might get you in trouble. it might find errors in places where there are non!

winrar would have unpacked the bins without question,IF you must! - but
better mount them with Virtual CloneDrive if you must mount them (some installers need a CD/DVD).

They all have the same thing it just gives me three different .rar files all with nothing but a .bin file and a waves sound grid file. I don't understand why there are 6 parts to all these downloads either if they all contain the same thing

As a trivial side-note, while certainly *.bin files all have a different function, some are actually image files. This means apps like UltraISO and PowerISO etc can open 'some' of them. Some have been written not to be opened too.
I noticed someone has the default VLC settings for possibly all potentially readable app extensions. It might be worth doing an "Open with" and selecting one of the above two applications as the default opener (or also WinRAR). It does not fix the issue and it is trivial, but nonetheless moderately useful if you need to pull a file or replace a corrupted file out of an image if it happens to be an image *.bin file (iso, daa, nrg etc etc).

Its giving me this message, assuming its asking me to select the bin file but it wont let me extract the bin file to even select it.

Hello @Nick Bellagio, I have installed it and it works without any problems.

You have messed around a bit !

1.) Download it again and unpack it with WinRar
2.) Read the enclosed NFO carefully and delete all file remnants as indicated in the NFO.
3.) Click on "Setup Waves Complete v2022.03.13".

Install
1.) Run included "R2R_Kill_Waves_Background_Process.cmd".
2.) Uninstall previous release.
3.) Uninstall Waves Central.

Clean Paths:
Your VST2, VST3, AAX plugins dir
C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\
%PROGRAMFILES%\Waves Central\
%PROGRAMDATA%\Waves Audio\
%APPDATA%\Waves Audio\
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Waves Audio\
%PUBLIC%\Waves Audio\

=> If you think you are not experienced, search "WaveShell*" in your C drive, then delete all.
=> We always see people having problem with old shells which should be uninstalled before.

Clean Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Waves\

Install Waves
1. Run our setup and install.
2. Scan or rescan plugins from your DAW.

 

I'd recommend also cleaning Program Files x86 > Common Files > WPAPI as I found some old waveshells in there for some reason, and had some problems installing before finding them.

 

Ok I re downloaded everything I followed all the instructions when I try and run the setup it keeps giving me this setup needs next disk message. This is when i try and run it from the Winrar window, when I extract it to the desktop and run it it says the source file is corrupt
