want to install some legit waves plugins, wondering how to make sure there is no trace from previous sister site install. how do i do this? what folders do i have to make sure to remove?

edit: btw, not sure if this was asked before? i assumed so, but could not find anything on this. only from waves directly, which say to do so from waves central, but surely something will be left this way, no?

I'm pretty positive legit plugins and ones from the sister site are able to be on one machine at the same time.

If you want no trace at all, there can still be some files left over from the uninstall. I would also use a free app called "Funter" which looks for anything you search on it, in the entire system of your Mac. Get the app and search for "Waves"... Delete everything that looks to you that can be from the Waves Plug-ins. Not everything that is named "Waves" is from the Waves Plug-in company.

What I do first is drop the Waves Central app on to App Cleaner first.
Go to Applications and trash the Waves folder
Then go to Library/Audio/Plugins and remove the WPAPI folder.
Next, open Components, VST and VST3 and remove all the Wave shells.
Library/ApplicationSupport/Waves folder remove.
Users/Shared/Waves remove
Users/YourName/Library/ApplicationSupport/Waves Audio and Waves Central
Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/Waves Preferences
Library/ApplicationSupport/Native instruments/Service Center and remove all the Waves.xmi files

I hope I didn't forget any.

 

i'm pretty sure that you can't uninstall them from the sister site. only the admin and mods can do that.

 

1.) Uninstall Waves Plugins on a Mac

2.) Use the " CCleaner for Mac " https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner-mac -->Restart your Mac afterwards
- In CCleaner, click the Registry icon at left to view the Registry Cleaner menu.

3.) Delete waves audio account
Log into Waves Central using your Waves account information. Go to the Settings tab. Under Maintenance, select the products/version you wish to uninstall in the dropdown menu, and click Uninstall.

4.) Create a new Account on Waves (Maybe use a different email address).

you can also use search in Finder after you delete the Waves related products from the Applications folder to dive into /Library and ~/Library.

or better yet use #/ grep

 

I wouldn't install some other program to clean up. that's the opposite direction. I wouldn't go through great pains over this either way, since 90% of waves junk will get put right back when you install the legit licensed versions. And it most certainly will, when you put the Sister Versions back on later .
