Prices for electric power also going up. Depending on gas, coal and oil. Use your feet and live and stay in your region

Everything is going up, eventually the base level of everything will just be much higher than it was/is. With the exception of wages, they'll go down if you have a right wing government (and who doesn't these days?).

I wouldn't buy for maybe another 5 or so years because electric prices are still relatively prohibitive, and it's still hard to find electric refilling stations in my neck of the woods, and I also want to see the improvements when I see more than one or two companies with electric cars on the roads, but most major auto manufacturers are literally eliminating ICE cars in the next 5-10 years, FULLY getting rid of gas engines. That says something right there. Not to mention, WHO THE FUCK STILL THINK WE WILL HAVE GAS in the next 20 years? It's a finite source of energy, and when the supplies start to dwindle, the price will shoot the fuck UP. In the US, we're at $5-7 a gallon now depending on where u live, that is NOTHING compared to gas prices in 5, 10, 15 years from now.

I just hope this will encourage people to embrace nuclear. It's the perfect stop-gap energy solution for now.

Everything is going up, true, but gas was ALWAYS going to go up. We've been told for decades oil is running out, I don't know why people are all of a sudden scared, but oh well.

what does anyone think would happen to gas prices assuming electric cars start becoming ubiquitous and overtake gas vehicles. would gas prices follow supply/demand and go really low, or will oil companies really stick it to what gas consumers are left by raping them at the pump in order to maintain high profits?

Everything will go up, even electricity.
And batteries will be crazy expansive soon, too.

The only big difference is you could charge from "alternative" sources, like solar panels and such.
But in those situation ... your car would be already useless.

Buy a second hand thermic car and pray for the future.

More relevant than the way we produce electricity, is the ammount we use! And this is waayyy unnecessary toooo much:trashing::suicide:

Once petrol cars have been replaced with electric ones all kinds of new taxes will be implemented, they may end up being more expensive to own/run than petrol cars ever were.

My guess would be a mile-by-mile road tax on top of everything else. Governments will have to somehow regain the income lost from petrol cars.

On the other hand there will probably be a period of time before all that kicks in where an electric car will be the better option.

Perhaps, I mean generally, our taxes pay for the driving hazards and expenses of having a billion cars on the roads, repair, and expansion, et c. Of course we can debate how efficient this process is, and how much actually lines the pockets of the fatcats, but that's the way it SHOULD be. But with electric the taxes would recuperate a different set of issues, perhaps to fund more electric filling stations, ones that would likely need to be improved every 5-10 years as the tech matures (and as it is, we're likely to see a bunch of electric cars stuck on the roadways because electric is so new to people that they forget they only have a very limited range of driving.), maybe more "smart" integrated roadways to assist in AI driving (the movies were so right!). This does not exactly equal more taxes to the end-user, I think for the actual cost of what gas engines do to the environment and such, the taxes might actually be less overall. There is more initial electric credit right off the bat, and there is a reason for this.

i mean petrol/gas vehicles won't be fully replaced in the end, since they are kinda better for industry, so probably now they will pay full tax?? (i don't know about every country, but in mine industrial vehicles do not pay the whole gas tax)
