all the rest will follow, peopple who use the dongle dont care.

Yep.. Just use version 8 of live. It still had support for quick time.. oh wait aax? Hmm not sure about that.

 

Nahh, not quite the case..
It would be nice if Steinberg does not take years now to convert all apps , VST, expansions... to the new auth system.
Also without asking for a fee for everything.
Therefore, there is realistically in this respect (dongle or not dongle) no advantage ATM for legitimate users because Cubase is usually not in a vacuum, but one has bought dongled Extensions, VSTs etc. over the years, which now all do not work without dongle.

 

i think they where very quick to release 2 mayor apps in 2 months since announcing it+
i dont think it will take super long to covert the plugs, and mor importantly i just want every release to be

Cubase and ProTools for Video+music collective editing are both solid. The codecs inside windows sometimes cause issues with any editing so it might not be Ableton at all. It was made with the same TLC as the others so it might be something else?

As for Halion - look on the sister site for the AiR Absolute it is the most stable. You are better off with the whole absolute suite - but that's only my opinion because Dark planet, triebwerk, symphonic, eagle etc etc all work inside halion too - that's where the power of halion is. By itself I can see why people ho-hum at it.

Only really minor issues.
In my case I'm not able to sync the dongle atm. But I don't need anyway because 12 ativation worked flawlessly.

 

I opened it and it was all black with some light grey lines. It seemed very computerish. old style Tron plays cubase atari. so I liked it.
It seems very well done. cubase atari was my first love.

 

The new midi mapping... how does it work ?
Can we connect, eg, a virus c via midi, to cubase, press a button, and cubase will scan all the cc's, etc, inside the virus, and then it creates an interface with the respective knows, faders, etc ? Like some sort of automated midi learn ?

 

Hmm, I still have problems with V.R. Cubase 12 Pro. I did it exactly like its written in the instructions.
But when I try to start Cubase it always stucks at "initializing video player". Even after waiting a few minutes nothing happens and the Task Manager says "Program is not responding".

 

If you are on Windows and you had Cubase 11 try this:
- Rename the directory C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 12_64 into "Cubase 12_64_OLD"
- Start Cubase 12

 

Still stucks on Startscreen at "initializing video player"

I have 2 folders. First one was created when I first installed Cubase 12 Pro (V.R.) and its name is "SteinbergActivationManager"
After doing the whole procedure again I also have a folder "SteinbergActivationMonager"...Both have the same content.

Sorry bro, I saw this happened to few users (probably bad installation or some leftover files) but this fix worked for legit version.
I just installed my upgrade last night and everything went smooth - C11 is still active on my eLicenser and C12 works without any problem.

Hmm...now I simply renamed the file:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 12\Components\videoengine.dll
to videoengine.dllllllllllll and you wont believe it, Cubase now starts.
After renaming the file back it again stucks on start. WTF?

 

Steinberg support suggested reinstalling Cubase 12 stating that maybe the installer did not execute the graphics portion correctly.

Sooo... you've found your own fix and you can enjoy C12

so i am getting random freezes is it a common problem with the vr release ??

 

You get a list of common manufacturers' controllers (only a couple from Korg)= and you can just select the model from the list. edit: There aren't many manufacturers, I've just noticed (about 4 or 5, including "blank" =) No virus =( But you can map it yourself (a bit of a nuisance, but fine) or there's likely a script out there already?

Aha that explains why I didn't have to do anything! I just hooked up my Novation Launchkey to Cubase for the first time, and C12 grabbed it right away and set everything up. Mutes/solos/arm, transport, etc. I was about to run through Novations instructions and setup the whole Mackie HUI thing but looks like those directions dont apply anymore after 12. Even says Cubase in the LCD screen when its up and running. I never used it with C11 so no clue if it was this easy there or not.

 

If the keyboard is not detected (Gratefully mine was) - I also tried doing it manually. You only have to slip or select the wrong one in choices (there's a lot) from the choice menu and then you mis-map the controller to not what you intended. Easy enough to fix but yes I agree while great at options, it is a little funky.
