Does anyone ever duplicate their audio stems and do you get any issues with it?

Ableton is a headache when it comes to routing, so as an example, if I duplicate my stems inside a fully wet Reverb, it cirvumvents the 1ms delay in the Send/Return (known issue in Ableton) and additional routing.

So in Ableton I can create a Group with a Reverb on it, then drop a duplicate into that Group folder, which would be the same as using Sends.

Will this create any phasing type issues?

It is not the same as using sends. You are loading that file into memory twice, and since they are stems; you will be greatly increasing the size of your project folder.

You aren't wrong to consider phasing a possible issue, but the bigger thing to me would be the fact you want to do this at all. There is something else in your workflow or process which is flawed that this would be even considered as a "possible fix" for your work.

admit it, if someone sent you a project to stem mix and you saw all these duplicate tracks; you would probably bust out laughing about it. Or blame some kind of drug use. :)

Yeah true. One thing I'm trying to conquer in Ableton is MultiBuss Compression, Brauerizing etc. I've just done a quick bounce without balancing anything and I can't tell if it sounds bad, but it does sound pretty huge and I've got a rough start to what I was looking for with the ABCD type thing.

You are right about an alternative is possible using Wet and Dry Groups, but its difficult to route them into different Busses. I've set it up and it works fine, but I spotted this idea and wondered if there's anything wrong with it.... Seems to be the same process really, if you are just sending the same sound to another Channel, in theory at least.
