OK basic question here, but I am about to switch from an old Macbook Pro i7 2013 to a new Macbook Pro M1 Max.

I'm just going through my paid and k'd software on the i7 MBP and what to install on the new machine.

Does my older intel k'd software install exactly as before on a M1 Mac, and will work (as before) automatically under 'rosetta'?
Or do I need to download everything k'd again, as M1 / silicon versions (presuming there are some)??

I guess what I am asking is do the older softwares still run ok and efficiently under Rosetta so I can just re-install the plugins that I like and am used to?

    Thank you for any help

If you decided to use Rosetta install only Intel version Z products. But it does not make sense to buy Apple M1 to use Rosetta, when we switchin' Rosetta machine make alotta freezes so you choose.

Mostly, Some plugins may have issues. It's better better to use arm versions of your plugins to achieve maximum efficiency, if available. Some plugins may have performance issues and crashes when running under rosetta but most of the time they work fine.

I am going to try and update where I can, but still realise that some companies are still slow to update, so no choice other than to use the old intel versions, and some free ones like George Yohng W1 Limiter I guess will never be updated?

Anyone know of a free alternative to this limiter?

google comes back with multiple results calling W1 Limiter a Waves L1 clone. Would you call that fair comparison?

I'd probably just put Pro-L it's place anyway. (not free though)
