    Hello friends

I have been working on singing and recording a song for some time. Experimentally, I found that the auto-tune effect works best when the scale of the song is Eminor. But recently I noticed that the slightest change in the tone or the way of singing causes the song to have a different scale.

My question is, are there any specific considerations to make sure the record will be on the Eminor scale? That is, do I have to sing in a certain way to keep the recorded voice on Eminor? Due to my lack of knowledge in this field, I do not even know whether this question is considered relevant or not.

If the song is in Eminor then there are going to be notes that fall within the key of Eminor. The chords will also have to fall within a specified spectrum if it's in the key of Eminor and the progressions will usually depend on the genre and feel of the song. If, when you change the notes, the song becomes a different key then chances are your notes are not falling within the Eminor scale or maybe the chords aren't resonating with the melody notes. I'm just guessing based off of the information you've provided, I could be wrong though.

I don't understand the question. Maybe you are lacking some basic music theory. If your song is in E minor you are all good. Same can be said about the relative major which is G major (and all modal scales inbetween). If you are singing some blue notes they will be shifted to the closest note in the key you have set.

You may have wrong notes/chords in your song that are not in the Eminor scale or you have setup autotune the wrong way .Post the track so we can hear it

If you are a beginner and relying upon Autotune, sorry but you´re in the wrong way. Learn first what really means a minor scale like the one you´re trying to use.

you should change autotune to "chromatic correction" instead of "e-minor", then any note you sing should be corrected to one of the twelve possible notes.

Hard to know where to start with this

Firstly is it a song you have been writing? - if so, I’m assuming the music is in the key of E minor? Or do you not know what key the song is in?

E minor can share some of the same notes as other keys. For instance, A minor and E minor both share some of the same notes in their scale, but some different, so it could be that the song is actually in A minor for example, which is why when you set it to E minor in the settings, some sound correct and some sound wrong .

It’s a really difficult question to answer without actually hearing the song because from your post, I’m assuming you don’t really have much knowledge of theory which makes the question really vague, so all the answers are just going to be guesswork.

It might be better if you can upload the music even without vocals so we could hear the actual key of the song and go from there.

If you are not sure what key the song is and you don’t have much knowledge of theory, then you’re probably better off just putting the option as chromatic instead of a specific key. As long as you’re not singing wildly out of tune, then at least you would be correcting it to the nearest note you’re trying to sing, rather than snap it to a scale when you might be picking the completely wrong scale for the song.

But at a guess, I’m assuming you’re picking the wrong scale that contains some of the right notes.

There’s also a host of other things it could be, I.e some of the melody could borrow notes from a harmonic minor scale or something, which you haven’t selected in your settings. But if you don’t know theory then there’s no point getting into that.

There’s plenty of reasons why it might sound off. You would probably just be better off setting it to chromatic if you can sing somewhat in tune. Or let us hear the song and figure out what you mean.

at least you are honest... I don't even understand what your saying like everyone else. Em are these notes. Sure there are relative majors and modulations you can do to move out of Em... but I mean, sounds like you dont even understand the basics of scales... so just stick to these notes and use your ears[IMG]

this is why autotune is completley retarded... people who dont understand how to even sing or are possibly tone deaf can now pretend they know what they are doing by setting a program to only output audio in a certain key... shit is absurd

I dont give a shit if I get banned, enough is enough and i can quietly survive without this forum so I m going to say what I have to say: I m bloody tired of people who claim to be musicians and don t know shit about music because they think that producing a sound with some knobs or tapping on a midi controller qualify them as musicians.Someone maybe managed to sell some crap with this attitude, but that s not talent or musicianship, it s luck.It s like grunting some sounds and doodling on a piece of paper and claiming to be able to speak and write, and I will never ever respect anyone who thinks that anything in life, specifically music, is some sort of thing that can be achieved in five minutes without study, knowledge, attitude, application, passion and daedication. If you don t like these words, you can do whatever you want with this account, and you perfectly know I'll come back with another one to write the final words to the reaction

Alternatively the person can invest in a copy of Captain Chords, select "e minor" from the drop down menu, drag in a chord progression, drag in a bass line, drag in a melody and no-one will be any the wiser.

right on bro, I completely agree... funkin mongs making "songs" with their mouse, destroying the music industry, replacing talent with drug addicts and sample packs, releasing their "type beats" that get 100 views in 3 months and they have the fucking nerve to call themselves producers.. fuck them and fuck their shitty music.. it aggravates the hell outta me that dumbfucks with a computer think theyre musicians... or a producer... they dont even know what a producer does, or how much talent and time is required to actually be a producer. absolute retards sitting on their ass using nick mira midi packs to make generic beats should be ridiculed, mocked and shat on for their entire existence, until they at least realize how to harmonize something without watching a youtube video, they can fuck off for all i care

there needs to be an industry wide boycott of these said "tools". its money grabbing from companies giving people the false sensation that they know anything about music. If you cant hear a note and then hum a harmonic note, leave and dont do music ever

I have read your contributions with great interest and it goes very many people as you have described. but I would like to round off the picture still say the following:

Everyone has the freedom to make bad beats and bad music at home and upload them to YouTube.
No one is obliged to learn a musical instrument.

Be your own captain of your ship and determine the course yourself.

If you don't like a music product:

1.) Do not read and consume the advertisements
2.) Don't buy it and don't recommend it to others.
3.) If you see and hear something you don't like, turn it off.

There were and are at any time and everywhere in the world, people who are stupid.
Talents are few, but there are many individuals who learn and experiment.

It reminds me when years ago i entered a min i market and i had my guitar with me, and the clerk asked me how to play it.That day I realized that most people think that music is a form of amusement that every moron can learn in five minutes

Oh I agree on everything you wrote, but my rampage is towards all those who define themeselves as singers or musicians without even knowing how to play or sing and relying on technology. The guy strted the post writing he s been working on singing and recording for some time, and then he added the rest, clearly showing at least concerning the singing part, he doesnt even know what he s talking about.Everyone has the freedom to make bad beats and bad music, sure, calling themselves music makers whatsoever is another story though
