Nope, Intel is cheap as fuck, but mobos are a different story. DDR5 ain't cheap either but 12th gen can use DDR4 so that's a relief. But prices vary from place to place.

    AMD Ryzen 5 5600G - Ryzen 5 5000 G-Series Cezanne (Zen 3) 6-Core 3.9 GHz Socket AM4 65W AMD Radeon Graphics Desktop Processor - 100-100000252BOX (€ 209,-)

    www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600G-6x-3-90GHz-So-AM4-BOX_1419324.html

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X takes the top spot in the gaming PC market with a solid blend of Intel-beating performance in both gaming and application workloads. The six-core 12-thread chip lands at $299, a $50 price hike over its previous-gen counterpart, but brings more than enough extra gaming and application performance to justify the premium. The Ryzen 5 5600X even beats the Intel Core i9-10900K at gaming, which is an incredible feat given its price point. Not to mention that it's the most power-efficient desktop PC processor we've ever tested.

AMD's Zen 3 microarchitecture results in a stunning 19% increase in IPC, which floats all boats in terms of performance in gaming, single-threaded, and multi-threaded applications. In fact, the chip generally matches the gaming performance of its more expensive sibling, the $449 Ryzen 7 5800X. That makes the 5600X an incredibly well-rounded chip that can handle any type of gaming, from competitive-class performance with high refresh rate monitors to streaming, while also serving up more than enough performance for day-to-day application workloads.

The Ryzen 5 5600X has a 3.7 GHz base and 4.6 GHz boost clock, but with the right cooling and motherboard, you can expect higher short-term boosts. The chip also has a 65W TDP rating, meaning it runs exceptionally cool and quiet given its capabilities (the previous-gen model was 95W). Existing AMD owners with a 500-series motherboard will breathe a sigh of relief as the 5600X drops right into existing 500-series motherboards. You can also drop the chips right into 400-series motherboards. If you need a new motherboard to support the chip, both 400- and 500-series motherboards are plentiful and relatively affordable, with the B550 lineup offering the best overall value for this class of chip.

Oof nice! Okay so Intel is the way to go. I'm now doubting the motherboard... How can I now if it's sufficient? I definitely need 7 USB ports + I'd like to have 2 M.2 which the mobo I selected has. What's the difference with some more expensive mobo's? More USB's or is there something I'm looking over (I have no idea what PCIe is for example).

do you *need*this performance or do you *want* this performance?

sold my mac pro for a profit,
went pc 1200ish more power than ill ever need,
bought a mac mini because i thought i was missing out on m1, plugins never came (pro tools still isnt), sold it months later for a profit (200 :D)
ill stick with this rather okish priced pc until it breaks,
i think the inflation will teach a lot of us to use resources to the max

That's a good question. I definitely need an upgrade. I can't tell what kinda performance is needed but I'd like the best performance for my money.
I don't really know how the mobo is involved in the performance? I thought the main thing was the cpu and RAM.

I'd opt for DDR4 RAM since I've been told the difference is not that much in performance, yet a lot in price.

I now see I uploaded the first build smh...
This is where I'm at right now. The Corsair watercooler isn't included (not in stock anymore atm).

Is it possible to explain which software incompatibility you have with AMD? I run an AMD Ryzen9 3900 roundabout for a year as an Hackintosh. No software incompatibility as of yet! My Machine is very fast!

    First a common advice

    check everything with :
    https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/zoeken/

I think that you can get most parts 10-20% cheaper with a simple search .

If you live near the German boarder, mindfactory.de(in Wilhelmshaven ) is normally the company here with the best prices . Sadly, they don't ship to the Netherlands . But they give you the possibility to buy it in their shop ( Just the CPU, Motherboard and SSD 2 TB are alone €50 to save) or if you have friend in Germany shipping is around €9 or free with midnight shipping ( between 0-6 ) .

Next, about the parts. The 12900K and 12900KF are very similar. Just take the cheaper one.

    Next Graphic. You wrote
Even the 12900 K internal Graphic can be used for some easier 3D gaming .

GTA5 with 50-60 FPS with low to mid-settings
    the next is the
MSI Radeon RX 6500 XT for €240 if you play only in 1080p it can be enough. Of course, it's a
temporary solution with 4 GB RAM it's just not state of the art but also an option .

I don't know folks.....I am looking at 6500 for the mac pro i want but that baby has some amazing specs for the price....will be selling my m1 1st gen loaded, with mixer and beat maker and keyboard or some such for almost enough....not charging for the software...am charging for the time I have spent getting all the software to work - figure I been working for over a year on getting the software all up and running that time should be compensated no? Anyway point being for 6500 you get the power and reliability of the m1 on steroids, with 64 gigs of ram and an 8 tb ssd 32 core gpu logic and their media producer or whatever its called, mouse, keyboard and trackpad all rechargeable - I don't even need to look at specs as i use mpe the specs they benchmark are worthless to figure that out far as i can tell, but the specs are impressive - intel just cant compete

me neither, no problems with AMD Ryzen (3700X in my case). And I was Intel-only-user for the last 20 years, so I am definitely not an AMD fanboy.
i have installed practically the whole range from audioz, no issues so far with all plugins and VSTi in Studio One.

hi guys, i would like to join!
i have an audio pc that is outdated. it is 20 years old and i dont use it since years. but it is assambled with some really good reusable parts and i would like to update it! it's a soundproofed miditower!
i'm not into IT and i have no idea, but i think all that i need/want is a futureproof motherboard, cpu, RAM(64gb?).
do you have some recommandations for me?
i dont want unnecessities, but money is of no consideration if the invest make sense!

Exactly my sentiments. Been intel since the late 90's. Got a 5900x last year and it's fine. Everything is so close nowadays, it doesn't really matter. You'll barely even notice the difference between comparable cpu's. Buy whichever is cheapest and go make music. It's not that serious that you need to bang your head against the wall arguing over it.

P.S. It'll always be this close.
