Clone expert and hardware developer Behringer today presents the TD-3-MO, the long-awaited mod of the in-house acid machine TD-3. A social media dispute between the actual Devil Fish modder of the original Roland TB-303 Robin Whittle a.k.a. "Real World Instruments" and Behringer announced the idea of another clone already a few months ago. Now the time has come and the "Modded Out" edition is now real!

Despite a public "dispute" with the actual developer of the legendary Devil Fish mod of the Roland TB-303, Behringer has now worked on the TD-3-MO after all. And this version is now ready for the masses. Of course once again in different colors. The yellow one with the acid smiley is not missing here. Recently, each color now gets this smiley printed on it. Very cool! The clone from the mod is, as was to be expected, very similar to the mod. At least externally the same new functions are available via the typical knobs, CV inputs and outputs and switches.
Besides the familiar 303 knobs Tune, Cutoff, Resonance, Envelope, Decay and Accent, you can now additionally set Soft Attack, Extended Decay (Normal, Accent), Slide Time, Sweep Speed, Accent Sweep, Filter FM, Filter Tracking and Overdrive. Furthermore, there is a three-stage "Muffler" and a red button that lets you trigger Accent directly. On the CV side, there is also news. Because also here Behringer expands the TD-3 with the MO.

    Now available? Hehehe
My son, you should have already learned that Behringer products are only available when they are on major distributors and not when Uli announces them.

I really wish I could have seen the online "war" between Whittle and Behringer (Uli?). I just can't see a modder having any say in a Behringer clone of the modded 303. Like does a modder actually have any type of IP rights?

if they had any, it'd be for exact copies of circuits, which is unlikely as they're modding their own designs and not the original. many people have released similar mods. I can understand Robin not wishing to be associated with it, but found the handling of the entire thing sort of off

I suspect that Uli was behind Devil Fish to be able to use their official logo (with the prestige that goes with it) on the new TB3. The concept of intellectual property was more about the logo than about the circuits.

    "Clone expert"...

I thought I would never get anything from them as not a fan of their stuff but I'm a 303 aficionado already got a TD3 to my collection of replica and clones. Wish I could afford the real deal but yeah at this point is just "shut up and take my money ".
Devilfish with CV mods for 200 bucks is like that Johnny Cage move that goes direct on the lower end. :trolls:

Need to get the model D to modulate the filter in(s) of this must be insane.....

Post your pics when arrive if I'm lucky by end of the week I have one unit to test and review.

Cheers all you acid people :dj:

From what I hear in demos absolutely yes: they made the TB3 much more expressive and at a sensational price. Consider that the original TB303 Devil Fish on Reverb has a price tag of $ 5K

never having used a devilfish, my first reaction was thinking everyone who owned one was cheating. far too easy to make the modulated reactive sounds that were so hard to get out of a stock tb3 (or even an emulated version without crazy modulation tracks)

luckyluke wanted pictures so here's mine is all of its buried in cables glory

The devilfish is the sh*t ...

    Look at this excellent demo:

( I like how Kai shows the devilfish for the whole time and then the td3-mo for 10 secs, can't blame him you can see how it screamms) :dunno:

By the way he got the black color which is really bad ass.

Just to hype this thread a bit more watch this lunatic reviewing the MO.
