quick opinion here: the samples are really good (worth having imo) and so far cosmos and cr8 all look decent, especially considering the price range: free - 10 dollars.

I'm already using a combination of Atlas and Ableton Simpler in a pretty similar fashion. A guy on Bedroomproducersblog commented that the Waves one behaves suspiciously. Another Pegasus type software under the disguise of an audio plugin? :dunno::rofl:

Indexing my 80.000+ sample files with Cosmos is really slow (scanned 4h and still not the half). XO or Sononym are much more faster with it!

it's free, you can download the plugin, save the samples folder and delete everything from Waves (or not).

What suspicious behavior? Like stalking middle class working white women at 10pm on dark streets? That's quite a shallow statement, one thing I can say for sure is that the "waveshell" make my daw take a longer time to start up.

I'll keep with sononym for now, waves needs feedback first to make changes on it for the best.
Also, adsr sample manager is the next one in my sample manager's queue. So I have time.

    For Win users:
Cosmos doesn't work with V.R. Crack but CR8 sampler - works
Cosmos works with r2r crack, but CR8 doesn't work

You need to be logged into your waves account in orderr to be able to use ist as far as I saw.

Which DAW do you use ? Dont it come with a sampler ? I ask since most DAWs already have a build in sampler.

yeah free for one year, and the you are allowed to renew your license and pay if you like to get the latest version.

That's it , just inspect how much the renew costs for your plugins.

XO or Atlas is far more advanced even tho they are both quite limited when it comes to sound shaping

Had to uninstall as it just kept running in the background processes even though i couldn't get it to get past connecting to samples screen. Even on exiting it ran in the background . I had problems uninstalling it too as it kept starting up in the background before it could start uninstalling. I've just finally managed to do i but it's made me think about the last time i used any waves so decided after 10 yrs of having them installed occasionally using the odd one or two plugins uninstalled all of them . Time for change plus the ADSR sample Manager works fine in that department. There are plenty of vst's out there no need for overkill i suppose

N00b question, but is there any way to get Cosmos without going through the whole waves central bullshit? I swore off Waves years ago and I don't see myself going back over one free plugin.

Yeah, like many, I'm not a fan of this new update policy, but at least the free plugin will still work in its current version for you indefinitely. No loss in grabbing it. And if you ever decide to get the latest version, it won't be as expensive, at least.

You need to log into central in order to install and activate then log-out it still works. But you also need to log into your waves account in cosmos (Can't use cosmos without logging in). You don't need to stay online every time, But when you're online it syncs sample data with server. But also can be blocked with firewall.

Yes, But layering 8 samples in single instance and save them as presets is pretty good, At least for 10 bucks.

This happens when you have a bad crack or missing server access. When it's not connecting to server it stops responding and you need to force stop. But when using with free license that issue doesn't occur.

"No new purchases this year", he said. "Can't resist a good deal", he also said, credit card already out.

But yeah, I broke down and got this because I was looking for a sampler for the express purpose of quickly mangling and fucking about with samples.

And you know what? This bad boy is perfect for that.

Sure, if I want to create massive multisampled instruments this ain't it. And if I want to quickly tweak a kick drum sample there are simpler and faster options.

But that elusive middle ground... this is it. Quickly throw some samples, layer them and tweak them into submission and just fuck about. Modulation is drag and drop, 4 modulators (LFO/sequencer) and 4 envelopes + standard modwheel/AT/velocity/pitchwheel.

I haven't spent too much time with it yet but the filter is very serviceable, and the stretch modes seem good, also you can set the mode per sample. Also love the mixer where you can quickly tune/mix the samples and set other parameters.

Oh, and the presets are nice as well. For me: this is a winner and for 9 euros I'm not complaining.

    yeah at max $10

Easy doable in anty other DAW Sampler I use (StudioOne, Logic) use.
Do we get at least individual filters for each of the 8 groups ?

What can it do betetr than you DAWs buuld in Sampler ?

I will give a a tryt but wont spend any money on Waves anymore.

Much more interesting is that Kontakt is now available as native apple silicon version, cant wait to try how it performs.

Yeah, filter per sample, and 4 groups of you want to group the filterings.

This is not a replacement for Sampler or Kontakt, it's closer to Simpler but that on steroids. The main thing is how fast it is to create your own patches. Drag a few samples in and you're off, drag some modulators as well and we're cookin'. Really, it's ridiculously fun and quick. Sure if I want to go all in on creating elaborate multisampled patches then it's Kontakt for me all the way. But this one, it doesn't even try. And that's a good thing.

The only thing I'd like is to have a macro section in the modulations but you can't have everything now can you?

I understand not liking Waves and there's a version provided by our dear Sister.
