Waves gives freebies now and then, and they tend to be worth grabbing (if you don't mind having to install Waves Central, which I already use for what I purchased anyways). At the very least, you can store it in a Waves account until you decide if you want to use it or not.

I don't really use samples much in the work I do, but this does come with "over 2500 FREE one-shots and loops", so that alone might make it worthwhile for people. I haven't tried it just yet, but looks like it could be helpful.



Edit: just installed Cosmos Sample Finder, and by the looks of it, this isn't a "plug-in" but rather a standalone tool. Still could be pretty handy though, as I'm not so sure a plug-in would really be any better for this particular purpose.

the catch is probably : a tenner for the sampler, and you pay 4 da samplepacks onward ( i guess )

I'm usually in the crowd that hates on Waves but the plugin looks actually good for 9 dollars + the sample finder. Only issue (as always) is their update policy that is complete BS.

Yeah, you're missing something, I recommend you to watch their walkthrough videos on the Waves webpage, but answering you: yes, there's slicing.

I don't hate on Waves at all. I know you can only install a few inside Central, but not installing the whole thing just makes you feel like you are "just going to buy a little crack".

But it's more like the digital version of "inviting a squatter or two" into a building. Next thing you know, there is no space left for the paid for things...

The price point on this thing is great right now, but like I mentioned, I'm really not one for using samples in my music. So, this sampler is a bit wasted on me and I don't intend to buy/try it. I really only occasionally use one shot samples for drum components, and that's about it. For my needs, and as a Reaper user, ReaSamplomatic5000 does what I need. Looks pretty nice though, but with my limited use of samplers, I'm not sure how it stacks up with the better ones out there.

why? their plugins are worth their always discounted price, if they ever were to charge full price for their plugins then I would have bad words for them

 

Yes you can... at least from COSMOS. I haven't used the sampler, but I'd be surprised if you can't do it from there. But sounds like it even has a button to launch COSMOS from it.

 

yes drag and drop into DAW works fine with cosmos ...
the drum samples are really good. fire snares.
i stick with the adsr sampler though to scroll through my library. that one is really fire. (vst/standalone)

 

For anyone wondering, the 2500 free samples that come with COSMOS are all a bunch of .wav files that install wherever your waves data goes. So if you were just interested in some freebie samples, you could just install this, grab the samples out of that folder and move them somewhere and uninstall everything.

 

or remove the smaples and use my own because I have 30,000 of them on a hard drive

 

yeah I've already added both to my waves account, will check when I get home... I am thinking cr8 will replace my iris 2 usage...
