Hey guys, I have omnisphere, but the library doesn't really come with drum beats. I want to make trance and happy hardcore music. Is there any way to download settings for timbres that other people created or do you guys know any settings where I can get the timbre for drum beats for trance or happy hardcore music? Thanks in advance

Not quite sure what you are asking, do you simply want drum sounds, in which case why not use another vsti for drums (or wav files) and create your own loops? or if you want to use omnisphere sounds for rhythms, try an FX gate? :dunno:

Well, let me clear things up, Omnisphere doesn't really come with any drum patches. I need some good drum patches. I also have no idea how to use a synth, since I compose music through musical theory and practically depends on vst. Is there anyway to download any drum patch that other people created through omnisphere? Is there anywhere where I can find instructions on how to create some really good drum patches?

I don't think Omnisphere is really designed to create drum patches, (I take that meaning loops), otherwise its a matter of editing a particular sound in the editor section to get it to sound a bit like drums / percussion and create your loops in your daw as separate tracks

Have a look at Trilian, the sounds will work within Omnisphere, they will give you some nice bass sounds to work with

Stylus RMX (getting a bit old now) is the drum loop vsti which Spectrasonics also make, not sure if the patches can be imported into Omnisphere though

In fact there's a whole section with drum patches in Omnisphere.

Of course you could also use Ominsphere's synth section to create some drum sounds on your own.

I have no idea how to use all those synth buttons. Is there any way I can download patches that other people created with omnisphere or at least instructions for bass drum patches?

Omnisphere is a very very powerful vsti, and you really need to spend time playing with all the buttons to learn how to create your sounds

    first some basics

    then onto Omnisphere

Is this not turning into one those:

"Please help me make a track that sounds like the stuff I download from torrent sites by the likes Tiesto, etc with vst stuff that I downloaded from torrent sites".

No offence meant Jonathan, please don`t get me wrong. You are just kinda barking up the wrong tree with your question. Omnisphere is one outstanding, deep and amazing synth that you really don`t get just to make Trancey drum sounds with. True, you could very easily edit a sine wave with a pitch envelope to make PHAT AS FOOK Kicks. Or use white noise mixed with some of the other wave forms/samples to create all manner of hats, snares, etc. However, that would mean actually spending time to figure out not just what the buttons do, but also why they are doing it.

There are not, as far as I know, any Trancey drum pattern patches available for Omnisphere, thank God! :bleh:

You should either watch the tutorials and learn Omnisphere/Synthesis, or, download the latest "Sound like every other fooker on Beatport" Sample Library vol 72!

Like I said Brother, please don`t take offence, you just kinda NEED to learn some stuff is all. Best of luck with it.

Lmao, I am not trying to make a carbon copy of Armin or Tiesto. I have all the other patches I need. I just need to get some dreaded bass drum patch to complete the music.

Okay Jonathon, thanks for not taking my comment the wrong way, altho reading back thru it, I`m surprised you didn`t! :wow:

I think the best suggestions / help you are going to get with your problem is from being pointed towards something which WILL give you what you want, rather then trying to get something from something that just aint gonna give you what want!

So, Omnisphere is gonna supply you with all the atmos, bass, leads, fx you could ever need, but, for drums, hits, patterns and loops we gotta look elsewhere.

Faves of the EDM crowd, (me included!) are:

    Sonic Charge - Micro Tonic.

    D16 Group - Drumazon.

    Audio Realism - ADM.

    Rob Papen - Punch.

    FXPansion - Geist and Tremor.

There are many more, Native Instruments Maschine, Audio Damage Tattoo, etc, etc. Any or ALL of them will blow you away and have you sequencing, programming and smashing beats out in no time. They all have there own special tricks and sounds. Grab one, some or ALL of them and have yourself a beat filled Xmas. I`m sure you know where you need to look for them.

Best of luck with your musical journey, every day is a new lesson.

Nicky Romero's Kick is neat. Best 30$ ever spent.
All in one drum synth are usually lame.
Learn to cook your own basic drums, a time investment for a great return, especially for trance and house, and lighter EDM.

kick = a note going down real fast + a little shot of noise at the beginning if you like
snare = a very short note around 200Hz (tune to your song), followed by a burst of white noise
hats = a burst of hi passed noise.
    tom = trebled kicks.

simple as that, you can do these with ANY synths (yeah massive, fm8, sylenth, logic's, flstudio's, ableton's whatever).

I also have no idea how to use a synth,

    - Learn, it's not that hard (easier than doing a kickflip with a skateboard)

I compose music through musical theory and practically depends on vst.

    - I have a solid music school background (as a cello and double bass player), and this sentence makes me want to cry.
    - what's interesting in EDM is not only composition but also sound design and production, if you're not interested in such stuffs (using synth, not just having the killer presets), just go watch TV.

Is there anyway to download any drum patch that other people created through omnisphere?

    - Maybe there is, this whole thread explains you omnisphere isn't really designed to do these. It's still possible though. I wrote you how to synthesize them.

Is there anywhere where I can find instructions on how to create some really good drum patches?

    - I did it. There's quite a lot of howtos on internet, they might not apply directly to your synth or style, you should be able to adapt to your case (you might want to read the Omnisphere manual to do that)

I mean while we are at it, can you recommend me sound libraries that provide all you need to make trance, happy hardcore, and edm music in general? Thanks

    - Vengeance stuffs and Refx Nexus are quite good at that. There must be similar stuffs for Omnisphere.
    - Still : music theory and clicking presets won't be enough to make the genres you mention.

Check out libraries by Vengeance, Zenhiser, Sample Magic and Loopmasters Bro. These are the staples of most producing EDM.

I`m not sure which DAW you are using, but, if you happen to be using Ableton Live 9, check out the Audio to MIDI function. You can then REALLY get creative with using loops, rather than just firing them in to your track static. Once you have the file as MIDI you can chop, change and rearrange to your hearts content. Then write that as audio and chop the hell out of that! :headbang:

A really neat trick I only just discovered the other day is with Tone2`s Rayblaster synth. That puppy can import audio!!! Seriously! It needs to be seen to fully grasp the possibilities. Then there are million and one other processes you can throw your audio / midi through. I guess what I`m trying to say is, IT`S AMAZING what we can now do on our computers, you just have to sit down, learn and experiment.

Here`s a video of Rayblaster importing audio. Just think of the possibilities.......

    Have fun!
