Record sales are increasing - pressing plants are hiring employees ...
Vinyl is still booming. In the first half of last year, the black gold achieved a market share of almost 6 percent with a sales increase of almost 50 percent.

The German company Newbilt Machinery in Alsfeld has been manufacturing new plate press machines for a number of years. E.g. White Stripes front man has ordered eight Newbilt presses for his pressing plant Third Man Records in Detroit.

And it is a good sign when traditional pressing plants such as the Diepholzer Pallas Group expand their capacities. As the district newspaper reports, the record company is currently investing a double-digit million amount in additional record pressing machines and new production facilities.
The management has now announced that 100 more employees are to be hired. And even if a large service provider like the Pallas Group with its large quantities can sometimes not necessarily be the first choice for small indie labels, we hope that some pressure will now be relieved from smaller pressing plants and that the waiting times for independent labels will be significantly reduced again.

Vinyl albums produced at United Record Pressing

Another year marks another high note struck by vinyl album sales.

Vinyl sales in the U.S. increased from 21.5 million units in 2020 to 41.7 million units last year, according to a 2021 report from MRC Data-Billboard, a media consumption company formerly know as Nielsen-SoundScan.

How much pressure may there be to get wax discs spinning on turntables? As of November 2021, pressing plants globally could produce around 180 million albums a year, according to Making Vinyl, an annual record manufacturing conference; however, demand reaches roughly 360 million albums, doubling production capacity.

Read more on the obstacles facing vinyl music in this Tennessean report from late 2021.

My collection is in three different places.) Some of which are in the apartment of my ex-wife, 11 years have passed, and I still do not pick them up. I often visit her and we listen to these records. I have a midi keyboard in her apartment, just in case. As we parted, we became even closer. A very rare level of trust and sincere concern for each other. Since we both can't stand jealousy and can only love wise people, our partners, to their credit, don't feel bad about this situation. We have become closer than most close relatives. I'm going to visit her and her boyfriend next week, I'll try not to forget and take pictures of my favorite vinyl records.

I dont think so, they are mostly from the 70's a few 60's and early 80's thown in. Most are original, kept in plastic covers for protection.:grooves:

Thanks to your "Tenessean" link, we learn amazing data:

    ...WOW!

...So my question is: why? Why do you think vinyl still fascinates us so much? Why do you, personally buy vinyls? What could be the reason why you choose to buy a vinyl instead of a CD?

    And subsidiary question:
As expected, many articles on the subject talk about the COVID effect on sales, so do you think that this BOOM of vinyl consumerism could be in fact just an ephemeral bubble?

...A sort of reassuring psychological shelter against the hardness and difficulties of these times? In other words: when things get troubled, cruel and messy, do we have a neat tendency to turn our minds to anything that rely us to a (real or fantasized) past?

I haven't bought records in years. I only download. I have downloaded all the records I own new digitally. I no longer need
to put on a record and turn it over, but I play the music comfortably, easily and quickly directly from the SSD hard drive.

For many, the analog has actually become digital. I think music has a healing effect, that's why just in the crisis, a lot of vinyl
has been bought. With music everything goes easier, I find it very positive that many people buy records, so that culture
and music have a higher status. In addition, the money helps many artists to survive or at least to cover your expenses.

(Findings) " We Continue to buy and contacless your Records "
Finally time to clean out your collection? Found boxes of treasures in the basement or attic? Together with DHL we offer you a free and contactless pickup service for your records.
Just pack them up, leave them in front of your door and let us pick them up. Interested?

Then send us an e-mail at [email protected] or call us at 030-549 069 361. https://recordsale.de/de/schallplatten-ankauf

The music sales as a whole needs to offer mixing/mastering 24bit 48khz audio. The higher sample rate can sound more analog. In addition, any processing to emulate the sound of records can work. Sell the sleeves and artwork for a reasonable price for those that love the information and art (I am in one of those. Maybe even fill the sleeves with unpressed plastic. The audio dynamic range, lower noise, and enhanced frequencies will be worth it. Buy your hipster old stereo gear (that sometimes are an awesome buy) and enjoy.
