I noticed that there are Waveforms ins the Viper folder, and I wondered if the "Classic" Waveforms are also sample based or actually generated.

    Viper Key features:
    • Classic Oscillators with user waveforms.
    • Multisaw (up to 9x Sawtooth waveform).
    • Wavetable Oscillators (Serum compatible).

    Powerful Oscillators

Viper has a set of versatile oscillators with multiple modes that let you create some amazing sounds!

Classic: With the Classic oscillators, it is possible to blend between a user waveform, a sawtooth, and a pulse with PWM.

Multisaw: The Multisaw is used to generate a total of 9 sawtooth waveforms in a single oscillator for some huge sounds!

Wavetable: The Wavetable oscillator can cycle through a table of waveforms.
Load your own wavetables from Serum or any other wavetable synth!

    Changes in Viper v1.0.5
    • Added Wavetable Oscillators (compatible with Serum wavetables).

I think it is single-cycle sample. Sylenth 1 started it (I read it on KVR), and everything after that follows because the sound produced is cleaner and shiny. If it is generated it would take a lot computing power and will sound a little harsh because of the digital domain limitation like the earlier version of 32bit old VSTi plugins oscillator. I guess to generate a proper "analog" sounding waveform the processing (for each voice!) has to be done at a ridiculously high samplerate and it will eat all the CPU away to reduce the latency and that isn't efficient these days.

I think I just understood how wavetables work thanks to your explanation. Not kidding
Even considering I'm not into synths...

Waveforms are sample based but they are single cycle samples.
Single cycle samples are like picture of waveform but in audio form in .wav
But it is more close to short gif because in audio world there is no pictures (stop frame).
There is always move. But you can make this move very stable.

In electronics, acoustics, and related fields, the waveform of a signal is the shape of its graph as a function of time,
independent of its time and magnitude scales and of any displacement in time.

In electronics, the term is usually applied to periodically varying voltages, currents, or electromagnetic fields. In acoustics, it is usually applied to steady periodic sounds—variations of pressure in air or other media. In these cases, the waveform is an attribute that is independent of the frequency, amplitude, or phase shift of the signal. The term can also be used for non-periodic signals, like chirps and pulses.

The waveform of an electrical signal can be visualized in an oscilloscope or any other device that can capture and plot its value at various times, with a suitable scales in the time and value axes. The electrocardiograph is a medical device to record the waveform of the electric signals that are associated with the beating of the heart; that waveform has important diagnostic value. Waveform generators, that can output a periodic voltage or current with one of several waveforms, are a common tool in electronics laboratories and workshops.

The waveform of a steady periodic sound affects its timbre. Synthesizers and modern keyboards can generate
sounds with many complicated waveforms. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waveform

Isnt sylenth1 Oscillators are DSP coded? They do not rely on single cycle samples (Its somewhere mentioned that Lennard is a very skilled DSP coder and worked in the telecommunication industry, which is heavy based on DSP stuff for smoothing signals via hardware and software - i can look if i can find a source for this.). U-he is doing the same, with generating Waveforms on the fly b custom DSP code.

VIPER is uses Flowstone toolkit and custom DSP code parts. But iam not sure how much is custom, maybe @adamszabo can answer that better?

It still sounds the same and has the same feature set. That's all that matters to me.

Sylenth 3 - It would be good to put a separate velocity controller on the surface.

Nah, that's not the delay. It's the new v3 killer feature:
    the Analog Calendar

Why should he? Sylenth1 is still perfect and sold well over the years. And you never know if he contributed dsp code to other products?

Or he still works a daily job with DSP coding stuff?
