He's agreeing and expounding. While the technical details of the tools can merit better-ness, practical know-how trumps the technical details every time. Worrall explains FF Pro-Qs non-cramping-ness, but it really has little to zero bearing on a good mix and the final result. It's just numbers, while great to geek out to, yields very little in practical benefits.

give a 5000 euro guitar a beginner and a 500 euro guitar a pro... the same with plug ins... it's not hard to predict what the result will be

It depends, Edge was the fastest one I could find but sometimes Mozilla works faster in some webpages.

Also, I already made my music with stock plugins (Reaper), it was quite painful and I still feel incompetent, you can check it for yourself in

    (VSTi and VST all stock)

The compressor is fine but the delay, the synth and the reverb suck balls (and that's coming from a Reaper fanboy). Thank goodness there are third party plugins and JS plugins.

The more you are experienced, the more you think you know it better, blinding out advencement and disregard other/new possibilities. For me, thats a serious challenge, honestly!

Not sure why this guy garners this kind of hatred. I find his reviews to be pretty entertaining and generally competent.

    Professional jealousy? Insecurity?

    Who knows?

    Well said. Couldn't agree more.

Though I suspect that some choose their plugs consciously or unconsciously purely on the design aesthetic of the GUI.

...and I suspect that I may have been guilty of this myself on occasion.

I have to admit that, it is actually the case that as you get older, it is more difficult to open up or get excited about something new... you want the well-known, what you know and what works...

I'm confused? hopefully someone can clear this up because I just don't get it?

I'm probably not understanding the topic of this thread so I am prepaired to be told I'm totally wrong but...

    Music is a art form.
People who work in forms of art are artists.
    Art is subjective.

with this line of thought isn't a competent artist is a artest who is confident in their art?

    There for he is competent.

His choice in paints is debatable but it is up to him.

I mean if what we make isn't art, then we're just making other people's art sound the same on all sound systems and should just go back to just calling our balance engineers and forget about all this creative stuff.

Engineering is a science not a art. We became mixers as we create, blend and make new sounds. a Form of art and there for it's subjective to if it's right and our competence is mesured in our confidence in our art.

To be honest i saw it coming, he always taslks about fabfilter and Elysia as the best things in the world, the rest is more or less filler.

I don't know, the correct mounting of the hydrocoptic marzlevanes on the ambifacient lunar waneshaft can really reduce side fumbling, which has a direct impact on the practical use of encabulator based plugins.

    YOU KNOW IT'S NOT!!!!

    I know.

Is it a bad thing though? A little deception for the sake of confort, maybe even productivity. Can a good looking plugin give you better results just because it invites you to do stuff, regardless of sound?...Is humanity even ready for such conversation?.

Nah, you're thinking too deep. The topic was a video, plain and simple. It just got hilariously philosophical after @Deceptive said the word "objectively".

edit: In conclusion, it's all Deceptive's fault. Shame on you

Ever since watching several of his videos in which he missed very obvious features of plugins because he outright refuses to glance at the manual, I can't take this guy seriously. Still love him in a way, but I'll consider him entertainment at best. If I have to watch a 20 minutes video about an engineer's choice of plugins, I'd rather spend that time watching someone else's.

Give the same stems to ten different great engineers, and you'll get ten different results. When every engineer inserts his or her personality into it I'd think there's art involved there, but that's just my opinion of course.
