Agree, although apparently a newer release maybe fixed that. Now at this point, my only issue is it's kind of a pain to install, and quite large (with the libraries) and I can't be bothered. lol Omnisphere is pretty nice, but I have enough VSTs to play with.

I kind of put Falcon in the same group. It's great, but I can only afford so much hard drive space, and I'll give the large-library space to Kontakt and use more lightweight VSTs (of which there are many good ones out there). I really do like both Falcon and Omnisphere though, just not enough to eat up all the extra space.

@naitguy, I use both Omnisphere and Falcon with most libs/files on an external hdd; and they work great. I think the drive speeds are more important with the big Kontakt libs than either of them. Falcon2 is a very good synth on its own; you don't need massive libraries to make it worth keeping installed.

I actually still have it installed (Falcon), I just used it a bunch when it first dropped on the sister site, then have stopped using it a couple weeks or so later. I think for what I'd use it for (vintage synth emulation), it eats up a larger amount of space.. but I guess it's not THAT bad. I have a lot worse tied up in Kontakt (which actually I center mainly around orchestra/acoustic instrument libraries, more than anything, as I think there are a lot of great Kontakt libraries for that).

My actual Falcon libraries that I use take up about 160GB. I've tried to ween myself off using Falcon, in case I end up uninstalling it, but I don't know just yet. I actually do like some of those vintage emulations, I'm just not entirely sold one way or the other that they're better than something out there with much smaller foot print (like Diva, OB-XD, and even Serum). Again, this is just speaking to what I would use it for. Still on the fence on it.

I bought it when it first came out and only got a trickle of expansion content compared to the r2r big flood. (Mac only)
I use it as a general purpose synth and sampler. Especially when I just need a simple sampler. The effects are great.

All the ROMpler stuff is really identifiable. And it also can be really hard to replace in a track/song; like any other obvious uncleared sample. These are the things I would definitely avoid using as warez when possible. You could lose a lot of work should it timebomb; and then be stuck buying something you don't really want, or replacing all those samples later on.

I think Output Arcade is the most useless plugin EVER. I dont like Engine 2 but I like all the others... (even Nexus lol)
But when I see Waves or Plugin Alliance or Omnisphere or FxPansion or even Arturia, Slate, Sonible, IK T-Racks, Falcon (and so on) listed here, I just don't get it...
You may have your preferences but you just can't say these brands don't do a good job, even if their plugins are not perfect.

    Well, IMO, Steven Slate sucks.
Most of the Slate plugins are good in those promo videos by Chris Lord and Mathew Weiss ... but they have implemented one of the worst filters and that causes Transient smearing and bad ringing.
If you don't believe me, good, you can try the DDMF Plugin doctor and see for yourself.

Now, will you be able to tell the transient thing by hearing? Well, probably not. Because our ears are not that kind of trained. But these kind of smearing, mainly caused due to Bas filter implementations and fucked up Phase response, can be added up one by one making your final product Suck.
Most Slate products are pretty much snake oil or a basically a Made in PRC version of some existing stuff.

The only thing good about Slate is, their Raven idea (again not Raven, because it is way too much costly and 90% of Raven functions are Mac only)

I trust you if you tested these plugins with DDMF. I like to use their tape simulation (dont remember the name). Is it the case for this plugin too? and if so what other tape simulation plugin would you recommand me (may be U-he Satin?)
    PS i dont have UA...

I would never use Neutron or Nectar from iZotope, why have like 2 different versions of the same mastering plugins when I can just use Ozone 9 and that's all I need?
(I know they aren't all the same, but still)

I have not tested Slate's Tape Sim, but I have checked their compressors, EQs and basically those Mixbox kind of plugins (the one R2R released on 2020's Xmas)
I like Uhe Satin and sadly, Studer A8000.
    Also, J37 is good.

Also, for a change, why not try Saturn2?
Fabfilters make one of the best plugins in each category they make. Best, easy to use and self explanatory GUI and best implemented and coded filters. What else does a Nerdy musician need?

I think people really hate Waves Central. I actually have the Diamond Bundle, and use several of their plugins. The only thing I really, really hate about Waves plugins is how they keep all their plugins in the one or two DLLs (per version). Sounds great, right? Well, until those DLL change for some reason, then your DAW sits there rescanning every one of your Waves plugins again (which takes a while when you have some big bundles). That doesn't happen a whole lot, thankfully, but it can happen. Related to that, sometimes I've just had the plugins up and stop working and I'd had to clear and reinstall them, but I'm thinking that might have been related to account in some way. And lastly, I guess you can install these offline and make them work offline, but I installed them online and it won't let me use them unless I'm connected to the internet (and signed into Waves, even, I think.

So there's lots of annoyances around that. I deal with them though.
