It's not malware. All anti-virus software will say that keygens are viruses as keygens use similar code to some viruses. Duck was released after R2R release their root certificate testing software, so download it and test Duck with it. If it says it's okay it has not been tampered with whatsoever.

It's called TEAM R2R Root Certificate.

Don't worry about it. "Our people" insure a sterile environment. All releases are clean and virus free. Here is the staff rigorously testing the day's downloads.

I'm always mystified that people still use antivirus software. Slows your computer down, stops you installing the good stuff, doesn't actually catch the stuff you should be worried about. I don't think I've used one for ten years now. Good back up strategy is much better IMO.

Nothing wrong with being extra cautious and running keygens in the sandbox, but as you discovered, your a/v will still run detections on it. For those situations where the end result is going to be something that can't have a virus anyways (ex. a generated serial number is just a string you type into an app, and isn't going to have a virus), I just turn off a/v while running sandboxed.

a standard Keygen is not a text modifier. It is taking selected information from the machine it is running on, which the programmer originally used to generate product codes for their User. Then using *same* algorithm using the collected system information, it is generating a product activation code which the program will accept as being valid.

This is watered down explanation, but it should work fine for what you need to know.
