I am very, very impressed with the sound power of this serious toy. Sounds miles away better than Viper. Maybe ( I never touched a Virus) the difference between this and the hardware resides in the DA converters. Just a question! Are the equalizers active? Strong milestone with the GUI!! Congrats guys!

Trying to make the AU for Mac work but it won't validate in Logic Pro X - is there any video that explains how to make it work?

    Thanks

    You mean DA converter.

It is not good to compare this vs Viper. It is not the emu of sound, it is the emu of device. Like all that 8bit games. They are perfectly same as on computers. So, it is code of virus c/b, identical. Maybe some bugs not fixed and several presets may be opened correctly, or parameters not adjusted.
So, I may say (as the owner of virus c), it is same. All presets from banks I know are same.

Want to buy hardware Virus now? Ask yourself - why do you need it... You have same code, no need of DA artefacts, wires, noise, AD conversions... Perfect clean code inside your PC.

Release of the decade. You never had vst synth sound like this in your life. Those envelopes and filters tell the truth. The effects? First timer you can actually use the fx rack from a plugin. Chorus, phaser, delay, reverb? Best itb by a mile.

...my bad, yes! DA converter. I just mentioned Viper, because there is a very big Hype involving its sound similarity with Virus. ...my humble conclusion: Even the ADSR characteristics of both synthesizers are totally different. I loved the wild shape that Virus applies to the sound

I've been playing with it for about 2 hours and man this is some phenomenal work! Congratulations! It's incredible.

It consumes from about 7.5-9.5% of my i7-6900K@4GHz on monophonic patches and polyphonic can hit 15% at times when unison is used, but without unison they usually linger around 9-12% without unison and playing three note chords. Perfectly acceptable for me as it's a 16 part synth. So people, beware of unison mode.

Bug: Speaking of 16 parts, I still don't get 2 additional aux outputs in Reaper. I get 2in/2out instead of 2in/6out.
Bug: When in multimode, all the indicators for all 16 channels are lit. I think only the one you're editing should be lit. [the white "LED"]

Observation: there is enough room for bigger fonts on knobs, section names, and lines around the knobs. Otherwise, the GUI is incredibly nice!

Thank you sooooooo much @Ayahuasca! Awesome work! :headbang:

For performance use 1.2.4 latest update
And for C model - ROM 6.5, not 6.6 as was before.
    6.5 is faster

Perhaps the v6.6 ROM of model C I'm using is the problem, or there's a strange bug using the vst2 plugin in Studio One. The patches/sounds get quiet and even change a little, seemingly after a short while, or when a simple chord is played via a midi controller. Changing patches resets the problem I'm having.

I'll try the 6.5 ROM or the model B ROM and see if that helps. Furthermore, if someone knows of something I may be doing wrong, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts.

I'm thrilled with these latest updates though - the gui is a gamechanger, no doubt! Many rounds of thanks to all the developers involved.

You don't need a video. It couldn't be easier. Use OSX Validate All AUs .App utility to force validation in Logic. Takes 1 click.
    https://macdownload.informer.com/osx-validate-all-aus/

It's also possible you might need to Codesign it. Use the Validation utility first. If still stuck, you can pm me for help.

F*ck yes, I would buy my TI2 today again in 1 second flat. And I love this emulator. But let's be realistic about things. As has been stated, code optimization may make it less of a CPU burden, but faster CPU's will help far more. All of this load is taken off the CPU using the hw Virus.

None of the "negatives" you refer to (some may call character or charm anyway!) are of concern at all, when using the TI connected via USB for both MIDI and Audio. Perfectly clean audio into the DAW. I do admit, the first time I had to reboot my Mac using this emulator, I thought we'd be ok if we had skipped that portion of Virus Authenticity.

Would I still buy a B or a C? Hell yeah, but only for a good price.

Thats a bit of a stretch. The ADSR curves are in fact 99% similar. Maybe you should show some basic examples where you hear a difference.

Hi Mr. Adam '¨the man behind Viper". Nice to listen from you. Your synth, like most other synths, obeys the adsr commands linearly (which is fair enough!). The behavior on Virus, for sure , doesn't work in a chaotic way, however it has its own "non-linear" characteristics, which turns into a depth that produces one of the 'Access Virus' identities.

Then I guess you havent taken the time to properly compare them. Plus you said you never touched a virus so I dont think you are the most qualified person to state such things. The attack and upward state of the slope control, are linear, and the decay, release are exponential decays....just like in Viper. They are exactly the same.

I have suggestion and request about the GUI for the next update.
It will be possible to add 90% GUI?
100% is too big for my screen and 75% is too small and text is barely visible.
Would be cool if there will be 90% GUI

Sure I'll make a video as soon as possible. I am just tweakig Viper x Virus C (emu) side by side using an 303 style sequencer (-1oct ) over a strong bass sound.
I am just using some basic Sine wave with the addition of a sub, low pass filter, high amount of envelope over the cuts and a small amount of reso. Tweaking the filter envelope (decay /sustain + sustain behavior "slope# in the case of Viper) the sound I hear is substantially different. . As I said: the sound is different. None is better or worse. in cases of actions of surgical envelopes in strong masses of low frequencies, one of them is more pleasant to my ears. I classify this as a "Rubber" envelope side effect(.)
