with high Q value (100). I know Waves Q10 has this, but i dont like Waves plugins. So any alternative would cool.

Also very high gain values for the EQ would be very good.

Ableton EQ8 has only -15dB und Q value is also very low (18).

I am awre that the Q value is the Width parameter for the Peak mode for example, how much surrounding frequencies are affected by the filter. (LP,HP, Peak, Notch, etc)

I tried EQuick, but it takes very long to add new bands (otherwise cool plugin), gain volume is great, Q value only until 50. Was low on CPU.

ApQualizr2 has 0.01oct/dB narrowness and 40dB cut/boost. It also has (same) narrow notches (100+ dB cut).

Pro-Q 3 only goes to a Q of 40, but you may be able to compensate with the 96dB slope option.
Additionally, it has a notch filter band style too which sounds like is what youre after.

Beware though, every plugin manufacturer implements those parameters differently and the EQ curves plugins are showing are never correct, but it's good eye-candy, grant you that. Plugin Doctor is your friend

I think Pro-Q can do the job as always

Hmm EQuick is quite cool, but very tiny on 1080p display and very hard to press and create a new band, otherwise i like the result.

There are actually formulas in Filter Theory Design (transfer funtion H(z)), which has the Q-factor inside, those can be normalized, but i am not sure if normalization is really done or if it is really done. (But thats not rocket science from the theory perspective. Efficient implementation seems the harder aspect about this.)

    http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-bandwidth.htm

And i am pretty sure, most of the Devs are not that open about that, how their transfer function looks like and how the Q-factor is implemented.

Thanks for the answer so far. I will consult Plugin doctor too.

    +-15dB, Q 0.4 - 4.0???

Right, but he's mainly speaking of analogue emulation EQs.

You can change the size after you click on the 'VU' button, in the new overlay that appears on the right hand side. You can store your desired size as the default under Options/Settings -> Misc if I remember correctly.

Correct but this doesn't change the font size, sadly.

@ArticStorm What do you need a Q of 100 for? I unfortunately don't know of anything with such values, but the application of such thing got me curious.

MAAT thEQorange and theEQred can get you up to 80 with a handy zoom function but only at +/- 12db because it's for mastering purpose.

    Just checked Weiss EQ1 goes up to 650 Q! at +/- 18db

Good call on the Weiss EQ,
their plugs are surely something unique/special..

I was quite Hyped with their Comp and Maximizer, thought I finally found something to beat Elysia..
but nope, they are so darn CPU Hungry I kinda buried them on the ghetto of my mind.. lol

Btw I think it's worth noting that not all Q's work the same..
Some EQs seem to have a different scale,
like Redline EQ which at maxQ is 8, but is pretty step/narrow..

Or for instance on Kontakt EQs which work with db/octave instead of Q..

The higher the Q value the more precise the EQ can boost/eliminate in Peak mode frequencies!

    Why High Q-Value?
Lets say you want to remove the frequenices around 423Hz, but the peak is only +-5Hz from the center frequency, so left 418Hz and right 428Hz, the high now the Q-value, the better you can surgically remove this frequency on point without removing to much other frequencies.

    Older Waves version maybe?
I installed Waves 9r26 by R2R now: has different Q EQ versions in it with 2 to 10 Bands. But it requires me to have an usb drive plugged in.
I have to find a solution to create either a virtual ethernet card or a virtual USB Drive to free the USB port.
Waves V9 does what i need it to do and loads very fast.

    What i have already tried?
The only Appealing EQ now, which is okay on CPU and has almost the Q-value i want is DMG EQuality - EQuick still makes it very hard to create bands and to edit this Band (GUI is very tiny on 1080p :( )
I can try Q1 by FF, not sure how high the Q-value is there? Volume value should go down till 24dB already, this should be fine.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
