What's the deal with sample packs? I first discovered frshstuff4u like more than a year ago and got hooked on grabbing any sound pack I could get my hands on that suited the style of music I enjoyed listening to and messing with... with that said, after filling up a 2tb hard drive of sample packs ranging from psytrance (which I have never made) - to sound fx (which I feel like I'll use for movie projects somewhere down the line), I have not utilized any of the sample packs I downloaded.

Now that I have found the source for all the freshstuff4u uploads (sister site), I am aw struck by how many terrible, corny, lifeless, overly trendy sound packs are out there.... Who actually buys and uses sound packs? When would someone actually use:
    •14 x Kick Loops
    •12 x Bass Loops
    •12 x Chord Loops
    •10 x Pad Loops
    •10 x Hat Loops
    •9 x Drums & Perc Loops
    •4 x Shaker Loops
    •5 x Melodic Synth & Seq Loops
    •6 x Noise Loops
    •379 Mb of Content
    •82 files in Total

How often do you actually use sample packs that have melody loops and song construction kits (I would rather kill myself than be stuck using any of that garbage). Are soundpacks and Nick Mira/wav supply deja vu packs that all sound the same ruining the music industry because people end up throwing a pile of bling on a pile of shit and putting it over a tiktok vid?

Literally the only sample packs I use are MPChead cuts and drum kits from patreon. I also use kits from croup or https://rawbeatz.com/

Do you have to use them or is it already valid to get inspired from those sounds?

Most of them are recycled sounds, some plain renames. Use loopcloud or sononym or adsr sample manager to organise your collection and simplify searching

I am more focusing on the people that take a melody loop and add fx to it and actually think they are "making music", no, you are arranging music, theres a huge difference. I can see how people could be inspired by sample packs, and I am all for using them as inspiration, not just throwing the loop into a project.

I used audiofinder for all my MPChead cuts because there were an insane amount from his patreon, but yes to sononym, this works from siste site unlike the audiofinder-TNT

i got myself a huge pack of classic drum machine samples (the pack floating around in the WEB, which has all drum m machine samples included from roms, recordings).

    thats all i need.

I need no point in 100000 808 samples for example.

I am fairly new to the forum but I have been making music for many years so I don't want to pee anyone off but I find the endless chain of sample packs to be disappointing at best and useless at worse.

Most of them are terrible and completely unusable and I'd be VERY p***ed off if I had paid for any of them.

The few that I do use occasionally for inspiration (and I have paid for) are always from Vandalism or one of the well known sample production labels.

audiofinder is made for macs and has a very familiar finder vibe, but it doesnt do the file type indexing like sononym, which is somewhat useful, but buggy from my experience using it (id rather organize the few samples I use myself)

When you clean your hard disk, sample packs are great.

I do this. I use them as placeholders -- as sounds that'll kinda do to get the feel I'm going for, before replacing them with sounds I've made myself.

Sometimes I'll leave a percussion loop or an atmos or drone in place, but they've generally had quite a lot of processing.

I download them obsessively though, and I have gigabytes of the damn things I've never even auditioned.

I'd completely gotten over the sample hoarding thing, but I bought a Digitakt and thought 'Oh, it'd be nice to have some different samples.' At which point my OCD kicked in.

Nah this includes from all even produced drum machines/(synth with drum rom) samples.

Its a pack which you can get via donations. I always forget how the page is called where you can get it.

UVI beat box coveres not enough.

For example the pack includes the famous simmons drum samples used in Never gonna give you up.

i found samples from 90s trance tracks in there. its a huge foundery for drum samples.

    Its this one: https://samples.kb6.de

I know its not okay, that this guy charges donation for free samples, that people sent to him, but its a huge help that he collected them.

Now you can always add your own synthesized drums to that.
Take sylenth and try to create hats, perc, claps, etc or any other synth.

Not really need any sample packs unless its cool field recordings or Foley sounds.
