REAPER did it again (automatic gain riding)

    is it just me, or is that button "solo in front" a legit thing.
    so i had this little sound that seemed to be getting buried as a bigger sound hit, and it fixed it. is this somewhat like track spacer? it certainly is easier to apply. and i havent compared any measurements yet i just know my little sound isnt lost anymore
    maybe its not related, just pushing all the buttons.

    No. It's just a different kind of solo mode where Reaper doesn't mute the rest of the tracks completely, it just dims the rest of tracks a set amount. The default is -18dB, but you can change it under Preferences>Audio>Mute/Solo. It's a great feature, even though it's not a "Track Spacer" kind of feature :)

    cool thanks AJ, im new to the DAW and barely past asking it to make me a sandwich. which it does pretty well i might say.
    but seriously, i've finished two project now. so call me green but thats something for me
