Sorry if this is not allowed.

Been using R2R Arturia V Collection 8 v8.4.1 since it was released, and version 7 before that with no issues but opened a project today and anything Arturia, both as a vst plugin or standalone, is showing "This software is not activated on this computer".

Ran Reveo Uninstaller incl Registry search and uninstalled everything Arturia, then ran Everything and deleted everything Arturia and ASCEMU2 related before reinstalling V Collection 8 v8.5.0 R2R and (as admin) R2R ASCEMU2.

    But no joy, nothing works!

    What can I do?

I suppose thats an option but judging from comments V.R.s release can be buggy.

I'd rather get this R2R working first - followed the install instructions so can't see why it does not work.

Use ProcMon to see which Crypto file is being accessed by ASCEMU2.exe when you load an Arturia plugin.
Quit the DAW - delete the offending file - and miraculously it gets regenerated when you next load an Arturia plug - there ought to be no demo issues now...
Set up filters in ProcMon as such... will make it easy as...

    PROCESS NAME "IS" ASCEMU2.exe
PATH "CONTAINS" C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME HERE]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\

It'll be within a folder in the RSA folder

    Hi emdebee

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

    In Process Explorer it shows...
    ASCEMU2.exe.

I right click for properties and under path it shows...
    Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Arturia\Arturia Software Center\ASCEMU2.exe
    Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arturia\Arturia Software Center\ASCEMU2.exe"
    Current directrory: C:\Windows\System32\

I am unable to find any reference to C:\Users\[MY USER NAME HERE]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\

    Arturia Clean Install:

    1. Click on the Uninstall button

    2. Delete the following folders & files if available :

    C:\ProgramData\Arturia
    C:\Program Files\Arturia
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Arturia
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Arturia

View hidden files and folders in Windows
    Windows 11 Windows 10
    1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
    2. Select View > Show > Hidden items.
    Hidden folder: C:\ProgramData\Arturia
    Hidden folder: C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\Keys
    Hidden folder: C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA

    3. Restart your PC

    4. Close / disable the antivirus software

    5. Install the: "Arturia - V Collection 8 v8.5.0 VSTi - 15.09.2021 - 8,9 GB - R2R"
    6. Install the: " TEAM R2R ASCEMU2 v1.0.6 - 10.09.2021 - 1 MB - for Arturia - R2R"

Note after installing: Make sure to run the DAW as Admin because it needs Admin
permission to write new database file (db.db3) in the ProgramData folder.

Followed your instructions and it works perfectly, thank you so much.

I have copied your post and saved it so if it happens again I can refer back to it.

    A real life saver.

    Thanks again.

    Glad you got it working

ProcMon is a very handy Microsoft utility - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon

Hi! The plugins don't work unless I keep ASCEMU2 on my computer. Is that right? Caus windows defender doesn't allow it so I would have to make exception on it. Is that safe?

Found this post as I was having trouble.

Completed the steps and all works okay, but only when running Live in Admin

If running in "normal" mode the VST3s try to open, but then hang...

    :/

EDIT. Changed permissions on ProgramData\Arturia to give my user (which is admin) full rights - all good now!

hello there, i have problems installing ASCEMU.
when i try to install it, i get an error:

CreateFile failed; Code 3. The system cannot find the specified path.

then i found this posting and followed each step... still same error.

anyone a clue why this is or how to fix it? please guys, i'm going mad.

edit: okay, now i got it fixed myself. if anyone is experiencing this, just delete this folder manually:

    C:\program files(86x)\arturia

there is a link to the specific folder and this caused the problem.
