I'm still equally scared about the movie, but that Unreal Engine 5... incredible. And that is real-time in a console.
A while ago I watched a full 3D fantasy Chinese movie. The movie was a bit boring, but the image quality jaw-dropping. I mean, I don't have a private theater or a 4K TV but man...

In the ending credits almost the only non Chinese line: made with Unreal Engine 5. Holy shit. In real time still not there, but movies and shows.. quite close.

Yeah. This is very real and very dangerous.
It reminds me that I played GTA V Online few years ago.
I had nothing in this game. There was hard to earn a lot of money. A lot of missions, a lot of work to get some money.
And in some day hacker give me a lot of bags with money.
I had few milions $
I bought few houses, few cars, helicopter, boat.
And then for few weeks I lived the character's life in this game and preferred this life than mine.

Back to your point, I think all they will have to do is be able to give you mindblowing dreams and you will never want to unplug. In that dream you can smoke twice your bodyweight without dying. Hell I will be able to chug a full bucket of LSD without feeling shit until I reach for the second bucket.
