i built a new pc because my old motherboard bit the dust after 8 years of daily use. now i need to re-install my favorite software and my #1 project is to reinstall omnisphere and get it up to date.

i still have the ssd where i installed omnisphere, and it is still working fine, so i am hoping that i can avoid downloading the 95.5 gigs that are in my steam folder and move forward from there.

i searched other posts in this forum and couldn't really find anything that made sense for my situation. anybody got an idea of the best way to proceed?

    Moving STEAM

    1. Copy your STEAM folder from its current location to the hard drive location of your choice. (This can be another drive partition, a secondary internal drive or an external hard drive such as an SSD, Thunderbolt, or USB hard drive, etc.).
    2. Once the copy is complete, confirm that both STEAM folders (original and copy) are the same size, then delete the original STEAM folder from the default location.
    3. Open Omnisphere and you will be prompted to locate the STEAM folder.
    4. Browse and select the new STEAM folder (you might see some error messages, but close these messages and continue to the final step). The link to the new location has now been created.
    5. Close and re-open Omnisphere for the changes to take effect.

wow, thank you. so i don't have to reinstall the program at all? there are no registry entries or program data entries on the system drive?

Right - all you have to do is follow the instructions and your Omnsiphere is ready for use again.

well, apparently it isn't quite that simple. when i opened omnisphere it presented me with the challenge code dialog box to authorize for my new computer. i probably should have mentioned that this was originally installed with a keygen, and the .dll file properties indicate that this is version 2.2

well, since this is a brand new computer, the program has never been installed. all i have is the steam folder and the .dll file from the old d:drive where i had omnisphere installed in the old computer.

oh and the library and .dll file are both version 2.2

i did follow the instructions to a t. since omnisphere has never been installed on this computer and the keygen has never been used, you can't just load omnisphere without providing a serial number. if i was just moving the steam folder from one drive to another, yeah - everything would work theoretically.

Simply install the " vkdanilov Omnisphere 2 " , the version is then automatically registered.
You don't need any keygen or serial.
Whenever you load the Omnisphere it asks for the STEAM folder, you give it and that's it ...!

this turned out to be a lie actually. i took a look at my old system drive and there are entries for spectrasonics in the program data directory and in the registry
and download 86 gigs of files broken into a thousand pieces and extract them all and go through all the steps needed to install? yeah, i could do that. i was hoping to save some time since i already have the steam folder and it was working fine on the old pc.
