:dunno: I have song that I am recording that I want to put real horns on. Assuming I understand the register of the instruments, and voicings and inversions I want---How hard is it to play the parts I want into MIDI from a keyboard, and get that to print out for the horn players? I can notate dynamics and accents myself. Anybody have much exerience with the software, best way to print, and all the little things that I won't see coming around the learning curve? This would seem the simplest of tasks for the software, and a good place to start for me.

Sorry I don't get the point. If you have the parts you have already played them into MIDI! Maybe are they only in your mind?
However in any daw you can open the score editor and print! :dunno:

I just want the easiest way to play, edit and print. My MIDI skills are limited. I plead dumb drummer. Have never used any of this type of stuff, so other than I know how to record and save MIDI, I just have zero experience. So I can play my keyboard into Audition, and eventually get horn charts?

I don't know about the MIDI capabilities of Audition, a friend of mine makes beautiful score prints with Garage Band that is easy to use.. Try Pizzicato on the Win side...

You could try Finale NotePad. I've used it a few times to create more professional scores than the SONAR export and it was really great.

As angie Said, Garageband can do some scoring (iirc was added in V4).

Olaf said Finale Notepad. Good thing about that is that it's X-platform & free.

I've used sibelius 3-4 @school. V5 adds a useful panorama mode. Don't use V7 if you don't like ribbon UI s. TYping in notes (A-G on keyboard)& selecting note values (numpad mapped to crotchet/quaver/etc) I found more reliable than playing in realtime.

There's also Notion which is a combined DAW/notation thingy. Supports VST as FX, a dedicated mixer.

I was wondering about Sibelius, the software. Thanks. And Sibelius the composer's 2nd Symphony is an orchestral piece I am fond of. :grooves:

Yes, if someone here have time, can it explain to me too! What/ how to adjust this device thing so I could play and record and that everything is right on time, not to type any more. I think something in my SIbelius don't work. In Finale Notepad is also only typing option!
    thanks
    EDIT:
actually sometimes work, sometimes not
I don't have patience for this.
