Sonnox reverb for ordinary tasks (very easy to use) and Lexicon PCM PlugIns for more "in depth & experiment" tasks

AAR, EOS, Breverb2, ableton reverb and as Convo reverb - reverberate Core and full. everything covered that way.
thinking of installing the CSR again - always loved that inverse version a lot.

I've also tried many, CSR Classik Studio Reverb series is the one for me (currently)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJuOWgYdOS4

(I'm in trance, I use the Classik Hall one regularly, it's a very very silky one )

    articles > http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/tech/ik-multimedia-classik-studio-reverb-22314 http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug06/articles/reverb.htm

    ok I know...it's an expensive one :(

    -
ps. and it has a built-in stereo-imager which makes it perfect for trance, u can create very wide soundscapes without any discernable 'hole-in-the-middle' artefacts

For really organic sounding, Nebula 3rd party libs (VNXTBX20E / VNXTEMT140 from VNXT SOUND and H35K, 6K/5K/3K. 480, UNI spring from STN, maybe there's more out there, but these are the only ones i know)are the best sounding in my opinion, but i tweak them adding some return fxes after the reverb. (also you have to increase the buffer in Nebula's interface to make it lighter on the CPU).
    As algo plugs, i like 2cAudio B2, Breverb 2, 2cAudio Breeze, RC 24 & 48, 2cAudio Aether and also a new and nice one HOFA IQ-Reverb.

Sonnox for the ER engine. Nothing beats it, at least for modeling rooms for post.
Wizoo W5 and W2 are out of this world too. Way ahead of the competition.
Valhalla is OKish. Somehow never survives to the end here :dunno: . Excerpt the Lexi 300 preset for backvocals.
Breeze is to mushy/flat. for me. I do like 2,3 custom presets though. Mostly used for putting brass to the back-wall.
I LOVE Lexi plate!. I use it instead of a room!; set the fastest decay and there is a space around the sound. GORGEOUS. I wish it would be True Stereo.
And there comes my favorite: meet TrueVerb.
I JUST LOVE IT. I can put it as a insert on every track and design any space for it!. Winner. Somehow it sits in the mix. Does sound shity when used standalone :(.
For moving shit back into the mix 2016 is good.
I did download a set of IRs from the R880 unit somewhere. There is 1 file which makes the strings sound BatMan.

The rest is just the same. People use to listen to the tails/modulation... and compare but it doesn't do anything.
A reverb has to fit the track and fit the tune.
If I want my singer to sound like BB&CC I'll go for the 480 plugs.
Last but not least, when cash is there, I'll pull the trigger on the surround Phoenix/R2 unit.

Valhalla DSP and Signaldust reverbs here... Wizoo W2 sometimes, and nothing else at all. Plugin land is plagued with generic stuff all around from 0 cost plugins to 300$ plugins or more. Decide what you need, what's the sound you're aiming for and use just a few of these that fulfil your demands. Easy... or not? :)

    Not really.
For me it never does what it should :dunno: .
Lexi plugs on the other side have a certain character I love. But I never use them as prescribed.
I use plate as the room. I like to adjust chamber to sound like plate, hall as a reverse ( when printed).
Never used the room algo in a normal mix, but its a TOGO for SFX. It has enormous spacial impact on the sound.
RandomHall was used once on plastic R&B strings. Otherwise it does disappear at the very far end of the mix :dunno:
One has to spend a LOT of time with them. Those a not easy Plug%Play things. I have them now since the beginning and still discovering stuff.
Og my favorite: print just the chamber output and put it in any kind of sonic mangler :). Chamber is probably the most surprising algo there
They should update them to True Stereo tghough!

I have compared and tested many (algorithmic) reverb plug-ins.

As far as the smoothness and beauty of the reverb tail goes, nothing equals Lexicon PCM, imo.

Valhalla Vintage Verb (which I own) comes very close, but still not 100% there.
Valhalla sounds beautiful, but it also very much sounds like an "effect", too good *yes*

The Lexicon has the perfect blend of sounding great and unobstrusive at the same time.

The ArtsAcoustics Reverb is also a very good reverb plug-in for a natural sound.
I also like the very clear interface... if you know a bit about reverb in general, you find what you need immediately.
Surprised nobody mentioned it here yet... check it out.

Comparing the so popular Aether and Breeze to Lexicon and VVV, I was very disappointed.
They almost sound like crap to me in direct comparison.

Interesting to hear so much praise for Lexicon PCM plugins. Admittedly, they do sound great, but I'd always rather use Valhalla VintageVerb somehow. I'm afraid if I get hooked to PCM I'd have to buy it some day. And in another post I spoke about combining plugins. That goes for reverbs, too. Put an EQ and/or some saturation plugin on the reverb send and mould it to taste or even better - to the mix. Any reverb can sound better that way.

I haven't gotten around to using my virtual Lexicon. If it sounds like their rack mounted hardware devices, I have some experience with those(one of the finest). Lexicon was one of the companies at the forefront of the digital age, right after Eventide Harmonizers came out. Or, you British folk here, is that Harmoniser? Color, colour..............."oh let's call the whole thing off"-Ira Gershwin.

    LOL.
Well I bought VVV, because in contrary to Lex PCM that one I could afford

But Lexicon also got more affordable, since they lowered their prices dramatically.
Now at the Black Friday sale, you could buy the LXP Bundle for 99$ :wow:
I was very much tempted, and almost pulled the trigger.

But the fact I would had to buy an iLok to use it, finally let me decide against it (for now).
Another 39€ for a crappy dongle...
Besides, if I had bought an iLok, I would had to buy Soundtoys Echoboy too, because that was also on sale for 99$ *no*

So I ended up getting Waves H-Delay instead *yes*
(which was also on sale, lol)

Well now I can finally say the same
I never saw anywhere anybody writing something negative about 2CAudio reverbs.

That seems to be the consensus but I like that you guys are serious. When I talked to DivinEvil he said: gotta make good on the promise, I really respect that. Yeah the only thing that's tempting me to the dark side is Cubase 7.5 but I can't even run it with my current computer anyway so I'll have to wait. If I quit smoking like I should I would have a lot more extra cash. :(
