You can make Fred Astaire stepdance like he's doing a drum solo now.

The Lately Bass in the FM Suite, is very cool.

For Digital Synsation i have Volume 1 & 2, there are a very good set of basic presets for 90s Sounds. (Althought i have the Roland Stuff included, which has so many 90s presets already).

Too bad, we cant export presets with Sound data to reduce size of the Falcon Library.

That Lately Bass i would export without a glimpse.

I am surprised how useable those expansions are. A very good addition to rolands Synths and what else you go there.

Still have to go through the other Expansions, but unpacking takes so long and aint nobody got time for that

This is the reason i would never buy an extension for falcon unless i'm sure i will love/use most of the presets or it's a complete (sampled) emulation of a given synth. Everything else is just a waste of diskspace and money.

I mean quality is very high, but some presets i just dont need them.

They could have done Content encryption by Presets+Resources. But on the other hand we also have Omnisphere, but thats only 80+GB for a gazillion of presets. (Omnisphere Library+addons and Trillian ofc). Thats very space efficient.

Idk, time will tell if everything, which i have downloaded in terms of UVI will find a use.

But yes i have the same reason about diskspace and expansions.

They could change my mind if they would release an "ufs-creator" where the legit customer could combine selfmade and/or extension patches into a custom & editable ufs file to use individually. This one could still get encrypted & sticked to a licence while saving to prevent distribution. That way the complete big extensions could go into an archive and only those presets that are needed are "live".

    I have a Falcon-specific question regarding sampling:
Can Falcon detect a sample's pitch or key for automatic mapping?
Like, I see all these nice features of this "hybrid" synth. But I'm not seeing how to easily map samples by detected pitch.
The website mentions a "Virtual Pitch" feature which supposedly detects pitch, but I cannot find any instruction or demonstration of
    its usage.

Yeah but then nobody would buy new expansions and i mean nobody would bother with Falcon on its own, its the expansions, which add a lot of value to it.

I mean reFX plays the same game? New expansions without the lack of actual being able to create your own sounds. I mean lots of people are capable of creating wonderful cool patches, but thats not the actual audience for such Expansion selling companies. I mean would i buy new expansions, if i could create stuff own? No definitely NOT.

I am still waiting for an answer by Acousticsamples, why he choose UVi plattform over Kontakt in the end? (Guess we all know the answer already ...)

yeah but falcon is still a really powerful sounddesign/sampling tool you can absolutely use it without any expansions

I encourage to also consider specifically what you don't want/need. For example, the OB legacy and JP legacy are huge file sizes and really dont offer much vs the Arturia equivalents. That said, I put all UVI on a 2.8" HDD (7200rpm) and will be doing more side-by-side comparisons with Arturia, Native Instruments, IK Syntronik (tempted to upgrade to V2).

If you don't have much storage, I'd consider hanging on to all the suites (Keys AC/EL/DI, Toys, Urban, World). Everything else can be achieved with digital synthesis. There are so many nuances lost when sampling synths that can only be regained with recreated synthesizers, especially with envelops and modulation matrix.

You are clearly using your market power. The sound designers don't care. They are usually badly paid. I worked for a company, that meant doing 200 presets and then 50/50. No programmer goes to work for hourly wages. The work and the stress are left to others. It is also not transparent, you can neither find out how much turnover they make nor how much they sell. This is then a trade secret.

Especially young people fall for it and buy these expansions, they just want to have some fun. Young people say buy an Access Virus or an equivalent hardware synthesizer, for example from Roland. if you don't have a lot of money, you will also be happy with Behringer. I don't belong to the target group either, I'm too old.

Haha im also to old, i mean i always loved to deep into a plugin/synth and just spend time to understand it. I hate preset clicking and after a short while i start to actual a synth. (Guess you arent different there).

Yes hardware is very expensive and also needs space, which i dont have and i am also totally happy i have not bought a Snow TI in 2013 as i intended, but rather upgraded the computer and put rest into savings. But thats another story for another day.

I had once a contract, where i can see how much units were sold and how the money is shared between the company and "Me", this was very satisfying, but still didnt pay enough to even have a decent income compared to the hours you have invested or even live from it. (I mostly worked this part time next to my "job".)

But surely i can see your point.

And if you really want to just make music, presets are something quick and inspiring. So i can see from where the young people are coming and there is still enough headroom left to shape the sound, such that the end result is not even close to what you have started, unless its really just a signature sound, like the Lately Bass, which you just use, because its perfect.

I am not even sure if the ciriticism we have raised is valid. But it would be an awsome to have feature.

Yes they have huge sizes, but not so many presets, since the presets have already a certain sample size. (Its sample based still - not to forget)

I mean i have to see how good some of the stuff is, maybe the Roland stuff covers this already in a small plugin form, even Roland managed to conservate the very unpleasent way of programming for example JV1080. But thats just Roland i guess, wanting something equally authentic?
I mean the Waveforms they have in the JV1080 already and the sounds which one can create with it, wow. (it from size point of view it weights like less than 100MB? :dunno:)

On the other hand, Reason Studios enables you to create & share your own refills, even for expansions and even as they sell their own expansions aka refills.

He already told us in the GONGGGG thread, didn't he?

True, True Reason is there really open and with the 30 days trial everything was really good, only became super bad as they reduced to 7 Days trials.

Ohh did he? Then i maybe didnt see it or he answer it already before i asked him.

Did somebody find a use for the walker Library? I cant really imagine that i will ever need it.

If i remember correct he said after his Kontakt libs got warezed and his sales dropped by 90 percent, he decided to go for UVI ufs since that had a better protection and increased his sales again. He also told after a while he won't post again here, that's why he probably even did not see your question.

Why can't you create your own libraries? Its not that hard, easier than kontakt. Compare :)

Can Falcon save a Single instrument status as a preset?
Or does it have to be saved as a Multi?

    You mean this?

*edit:* To clarify, saving a program just saves a .uvip file (seen on the browser, right side) which is just a XML dump of the parameters that reference the library.
