Software year-end accounting with the year 2021.

What was good - what was new - what surprised you - what was bad - which trends can be read off.

1.) I especially liked the Korg company, they updated everything and designed it nicely.
Even the users of 4K monitors are now looking forward to a user-friendly graphical interface.

2.) You can rely on FabFilter again and they haven't let us down.

    Well,
I want to build a Shrine for Worship to Reason 12, Falcon and Soothe!

So, the Sound Designers and Sample Hoarders can feel less Empty in their Souls

VCV Rack 2 is getting most of my time at the moment, but the more time I spend with it, the more I find myself enjoying UVI Falcon. I'd always assumed it was just a big Rompler with knob twiddling, but it's actually so much better and so much more than that. It's a really powerful sound design tool.

Bitwig also going from strength to strength.

This year have been so incredible!!! For me Vital, Phase Plant and Parawave Rapid are the best discovery.
I haven't had time to really try Falcon deeply though. But I'm not on a hurry, as I wont pay 349,00€ for it, no matter how good it is.

Although not new, this year I bought Gullfoss and Omnisphere. It will take me a year to pay them off.
I'm happy Waves finally started getting bigger GUI's this year.
I'm disappointed in iZotope for going full subscription model for the full Ozone.

Bought Scaler 2 as I was impatient waiting for the 2.5 update to become available on the sister site.
Product goes from strength to strength and I use it on every project.

  8. I am proud to finally have an original FL studio that I bought in full, the rest I am grateful to R2R for you are the reason why we are allowed to live here and now to make music, but I would be happy about small things that maybe they could still do otherwise i'm happy

For me of course Falcon Unveiled, and the fact that it runs flawlessly in my old W7. The best of the year.

Best buy I made this year is Fircomp 2. It quickly became my go-to comp. Also bought the rest of the Tokyo Dawn Labs plug-ins that I didn't already own.

The return of Variety of Sound was definitely one of the most pleasant surprises!

Worst of this year? Hmm... there's so much to choose from I wouldn't know where to start! The "Mask off" plugin and Nani has to be somewhere close to the worst at least.

I purchased Omnisphere and it is definitely a beast. Designing sounds is a rabbit hole that prevents me from making actual songs, but it has been fun.
The also got the Arturia Synth collection. These were so great it allowed me to get rid of the "lesser" or boutique synths I had been using for years.
I am going to get an Arturia Keystep soon for the DAW control and integration with the Arturia plugins.

Have to admit downloading a 37GB Falcon Library in 30mins, was really satisfying. And it was totally worth it.

For me its the Virus Emulation aka DSP563xx Project, it was an unbelievable feeling to have the first sounds playing in ableton from the Virus B & C, its still amazing. THanks to everybody invloved there. And so far i know Access Music announced shortly after that TI3.

What else? Probably Fabfilter TImeless 3, Its a very awsome delay plugin and just merges the boundaries to other effect types in a beautiful way (and this actual makes up the high price, with no doubt, FF knows how to work out the maths/coding behind the plugins) - Like have a delay effect and upgrade it to Reverb, Flanger, etc.
If i had the money, i would support FF immediatly.

I also agree with KORG gets an award for upgrading and optimizing their software. I love using it. Recently discovered MDE-X Polysix Ensemble Mode for very cool cheap Unison effects on everything.

I was actual really happy to come back to doing music in the corona lockdown and its just amazing how much cool tools we have now legit or with the help of R2R, RET, VR, etc.
And also recently bought new Hardware. 2022 will be a great time hopefully.

There are maybe even more new products, free or paid, which deserve to be mentioned, but i cant think of any more at this time.
